Was this stupid SUV trying to make me hit them?

This.

Maybe you had a similar vehicle to someone who cut him off earlier?

Who knows?

Sometimes you just have to get away from a driver.

I had a guy who kept stationing himself just off my left rear quarter this evening, 2 lanes in each direction. Like he was trying to be my wingman. I hate that. I want to be able to maneuver.

So I tap the brakes to separate us. He slows down too, and parks himself there again. So I accelerate away from him and open a nice gap. Here he comes again...doesn't pass. Always stops right off my left rear without passing me. Won't stay away from me...

I finally put the boot to the hemi and got rid of him for good.

I can't stand drivers who stay next to me when there's plenty of room...

This is the one thing that drives me batshit crazy. People have no reason to be in that particular spot, but they just hang out there.

If you're driving the same speed as me, get in front or get behind me. The spot you suggested is the worst, but even if they are side by side with me trying to maintain my speed I just don't get it. The outer lane is for passing, so stop trying equal my speed.

I had this happen a couple nights ago with another F150. He was going about 10 under, I was doing 75 (speed limit) with cruise on, went around him to the left, and he speeds up and parks his front end even with my passenger rear door, right where I wouldn't be able to see him if I didn't have fisheyes on my mirrors.

He did that for a couple miles, till I got pissed and woke up the V8. He tried to keep up but couldn't. I got a few miles away up the road before I slowed back down to the speed limit and moved back over to the center lane.

He then came flying up to me on the left lane and kept dropping back and doing full-throttle hits, trying to get me to race him, I guess. He did this till I caught my exit.

And tonight, another crazy guy comes flying up behind me, and I moved over to the right lane and let him by, we both take the same exit/ramp (from 37W to 358S), I can take this ramp at 65 in my truck, this guy slows to about 25 and weaves from the lane onto the shoulder and back a few times. Once we hit the highway, I move to the far left and speed up to the speed limit (65) passing the guy who was still going 25-30. He moves over behind me and tailgates, flashing his lights and honking. I moved right, he pulls up next to me still flashing and honking for a couple seconds, then takes off weaving in and out of traffic.

People are just crazy.

One of my other favorite things is the people that have a turning lane, and choose to occupy 1.5-2 ft of the through lane for their turn, even though there are two through lanes in all directions (IE - two north bound lanes (plus turning lane), two southbound, etc.), which means the intersection is plenty big even for a semi to make that turn.

I had that happen yesterday, and I must've been in a mood because I laid on the horn while I passed her. Funny thing is, her car's bumper was damn near torn off, so I can only assume that isn't the only stupid thing she does while driving.

----------------

And, another one. I have a highway I travel that goes one way in each direction for about 15 miles at a 60 mph limit. On one end of the highway, there is a two lane that merges down to one. I have found, countless times, that someone will occupy the ending lane so as to pass the people in the left lane. I have no problem with this. What I have a problem with is when they do this, gun it to take the lead traveling in excess of 60 mph, get in front, and when it becomes 1 lane, they drop to 50-58 mph holding up everyone they've just passed.

I find myself taking that outer lane when given the chance so as to get by everyone just so I can do my 60-65 without having to pass someone on this regularly busy highway (busy enough that they are tearing down trees and such so they can at another lane in each direction over the next couple years). It just blows my mind that someone would accelerate to pass, and then drop to a speed less than the speed limit. Why not just get behind everyone else that doesn't care about the speed?

:hmm:

If I had to guess, I would say he was mad that in his mind you tried to block him in behind the semi. So, he cut in front of you to avoid being caught, but it seems he failed to even indicate that he wanted to move over. In some ways, I like the British term, "indicator", better. Mostly because then people may not think that turn signals are only for turning.

I had my own "fun" the other day...

This highway that I drive on has a slow section for a little bit until it opens back up. The main problem is that people take too long to get up to speed (65 MPH), which results in two issues:

1) They jam up the right lane. There are two merge points not far after the road changes to 65. When cars are trying to merge in, instead of moving over, cars will simply brake to let the merging cars in. The existing traffic was already traveling below the speed limit prior to braking, so you can imagine how much worse it is.

2) They jam up the left lane. Not all cars will stay in the right lane, but just because they are kind enough to move over doesn't mean that they're kind enough to accelerate. A lot of the time, these cars that move over are only doing 55-60 MPH.

I had someone jam up the left lane on me the other day, and it's not such a big deal, because people eventually speed up (to 70MPH) or they kindly get out of the way (and I wave to thank them). However, this woman decided that she didn't need to get out of the way. She just sat there in the left lane going 60-65 MPH when the right lane next to her was free, but there wasn't enough room for me to zip around her using that lane. I watched as that idiot stayed in the lane until I had I finally reached my exit around four miles later. :|

I think also some people have really short memories. Had someone just yesterday slowly pass me on the left, then signaled and tried to move over into my lane before fully passing. I hit the brakes to avoid getting hit and blared the horn, totally freaking out the guy as he yanked back into his lane. Duh, you JUST moved to the left lane 30 seconds ago to go around me, did you think that I just magically disappeared from the lane?

Fucktards are everywhere, I was on a 3 lane thru-town road, going about 50, saw a light changing ahead, had enough space to brake normally...NOT, some dickhead in an F150 shoots right in front of me so now I have like 2 feet clearance from his bumper and I've got to jack the shit out of my brakes (which I was trying to avoid as I just put all new pads on). When everyone stopped I was already honking and rolled back my sunroof so I could give him the finger. Seems to be mostly trucks around here, civility and common sense and common courtesy are long-lost relics from decades ago
