Was this a smart idea (re: motherboards/video cards)?

Well I have just purchased a lot of new stuff including a P4 3.06 Ghz and 1 GB DDR 3200 RAM (Corsair XMS Twinpack).

I was waiting on two things...a Granite Bay motherboard and the GeForce FX to come out. Well I've just gotten impatient as I don't need the fastest card right now and just want to get my system up and running for the time being (aka next few months).

So, to hold me over, I'm just gonna purchase an Asus P4PE Deluxe motherboard and a GeForce 4 Ti 4200.

Does this make sense? I need some validation that I'm making a good decision and not missing anything...

thanks!

ps I can justify buying another mobo/graphics card now and then a new one in a few months b/c I'm rebuilding my old system now for my brother.

Can I have some money, You have too much;)

Considering the wait and you already own the CPU I would go ahead. That CPU is gonna just keep dropping in price.

if you have that much money get a redeon 9700 - way better than a gf4 ti4200 and you never know what youll need in the future

well i wanted to get something cheap whilst I waited to see the marks on the GF FX. and that would determine whether I'd get the 9700 pro or the GF FX. like I said the reason i'm getting two cards is b/c once i make my decision on the higher end card I'm giving this one to my brother who needs it (he just needs a good card and not necessarily the most high end).
