I just ordered a x800xt for my last AGP upgrade ever. It was 289 at newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102492, there's the link. This should be a hefty boost over my 9800 pro right? It looked to have about double the 3dmarks at benchmarks at toms and anand. My 400W Fortron should be able to handle it too right?

Sweet, i was just a little nervous about dropping 300 on an AGP card, but i figure with a mild O/C on the sempron i should be good for 1-1.5 years at least at 1024x768, right?

LOL... you should be good for 2 years at 1600 with that.

I was going to do it too (6600GT to x850XTPE)... but I decided to use my money for other purposes.

The best deal you could've done... Overclocked Semprons are quite powerful, especially in the range of 2.5GHz and upwards... They come alongside with an Athlon 64 3500+ at that point...

It will give you some decent frame rates, even on the higher resolutions...

Don't know all the details of it, but of course, you already have a speed advantage of 300MHz, which makes up for the "only" 256kb or 128kb of L2 cache... Together with the integrated memory controller, that makes for a quite effective CPU... especially in games...

I went from an AIW 9800 to AIW X800XT and saw a big increase in performance in Far Cry, 3D Mark 03, Battlefield 2, HL2, CS Source, DOD Source etc.
