Peter was obviously not the first pope so the Church of Rome probably didnt actually exist until at least 400 years later than it claims to have come into existence.

i just dont see how the "new testament" could be non-fiction.

You cant look at the entire volume in this way. Some of the books were written within 100 years of the events, others much later.

The REAL question is, "why do people still use it as a crutch?

I have no clue, that was 1,558 years before I was born.

Yeah...as old as I am...that's still a bit before my time...but I DO believe it's fictional...written to control the unwashed masses. (same as the Old Testament, Koran, and Torah.) There MAY be a bit of factual history written in with the story, but for the most part...it's just a story.

well, i dont believe there is any factual history in it. all of the people mentioned in it are purely fictitious.

if jesus had actually lived, then why would he be so nice and loving 99% of the time, and then all of sudden say he would deny entry to heaven for those who dont worship his father?

and what facts do you have to back that up?

(fair warning: I am setting you up)
