Jetpacks do exist. There was an episode on the History Channel I believe, where they told of the US government researching towards the use of tactical jetpacks in WWII. Jetpacks haven't been developed much furthur because you only have enough fuel for like 30 seconds, and it's very unsafe.

lol, theyve been around since the late 50's. i think theyve made a couple superbowl appearances in the past.

but yeah, as an earlier poster said, they only last something like 60-90 seconds and the equipment is hugely cumbersome. not very practical.
