Was quitting the right decision?

So I have been working at this fast food place, Taco Time, for the past year and couple months. Last Friday, I gave them my two weeks notice. My reasons for quitting were:

- Having started me at $5.50, even though my job before started at $6.00, and over the past year only being raised to $6.50.

- Working at least one weekend night every week, and sometimes both.

- Problems with a certain manager that never were resolved, and my opinions washed aside.

- The inability for them to have set times on which we could go home. Everyone on a shift would be assigned a number, 1 being sent home first, and 5 being sent home last. You never knew when you would be going home, because that was entirely up to the manager on duty.

Its not a very long list, but these problems got continually tiring over the past year or so. My requests for raises every three or so months were continually met with hesitancy, due to the fact that I was slow at making food (mostly due to the fact that I was only ever assigned to make food once my whole time there).

Recently my manager started scheduling me weekends only. After asking why this was, and getting the reason back that we had too many people working there, I asked if I could work during the week, and not so much on the weekends. Her response was to still schedule me weekends, and give me one short shift during the week.

I was supposed to work tonight, but after going in for work, I find that she has completely changed the schedule, and that I dont work this week at all. After asking if someone changed the schedule, she responds that she did, and not in a very nice manner that is usual.

So im pretty sure my time there is done. I am kind of hurt and confused as to why I was treated so poorly, or if I was at all. I can count on one hand how many times I was late for a shift, and only missed 4 shifts of work (2 of which were thanks to her great scheduling). I never sat around idile, I was always on my feet doing work, and did several above the call favors for customers.

Are my reasons not good as I think they are? Was my quitting justified?

Sounds like the right thing to do.

Trust me, it won't be hard to find another fast food job, and I'm sure you could find one that pays more and where they treat you better.

It's because you let it be know that you would tolerate such treatment and they took advantage of it...

May I ask your age?

You quit a fast food job. It's okay. You weren't supporting a family or a crack habit on that $6.50 an hour, were you?

It's easy enough to get another job of this sort where you'll have no complaints or history. I'd suggest getting out of fast food.

It's fast fast food and they don't give a crap, forget the 2 weeks notice and just quit.

Im 18, and I have always been a little on the shy side I would say, its not easy for me to step out of my usual routine, I am trying to change this however. I have applied at Radio Shack, Office Max, and I just barely called on a tech support job.

The problem I am having now is that the higher paying jobs take a little more commitment, and I plan to move out to college at the end of summer. I was really interested in the tech support job, but I would have to get my A+ certification, which usually takes about 7 weeks, and then they would want a 6 month commitment.

And yes, that is probably the lowest paying fast food place around. Kinda ironic because its probably the most expensive fast food place to eat at also.

She scheduled you on weekends, even though you asked not to be and she cut your hours.

From a manager's pov, that is how they fire you.

They do exactly what it is that will make you quit.

Dude, if what you said is true, that job doesn't deserve you.

Sell yourself better, I've read through your comments and seems like you have a self-esteem problem. Instead of thinking if you're qualify for something, reverse the thinking; think if would that job qualify for you.

I'm sure you can do much better than the fast food place. Have some confidence in your abilities, and when applying for jobs, or interviews, don't have any doubts on your mind that you will get that job. It shows if you lack any confidence.

I think most are owned and operated independently, so its not a big corporation.

Its more expensive, and in my opinion, better tasting, than Tacobell. We make our pinto beans fresh daily and use real shreaded cheese, instead of that nacho cheese stuff.

Of course, if I had to choose from the two, I would go Tacobell, just because its hard to find anything good at Tacotime for less than $3.00. Im not kidding you, we charge $4 for one of our burritos.
