Was Oliver Cromwell what you would call a democratic fascist?

I think he's a dipshit and I'm neither Irish nor Roman Catholic.

He was basically the Lincoln of his day, simply a more successful Henry Clay in my opinion.

He was a nationalist (he fucking hated Celtic peoples), a mercantilist (started the protectionist nationalist navigation acts so that all of the gold would come to and stay in England driving up wages and prices), a democrat (proponent of parliament taking power over the monarchy), and a genocidal mass murderer (murdered, raped, pillaged, and plundered the Celtic peoples).

Why is he not recorded by the history books as a National Socialist? He was a democrat rather than an autocrat, but he was a mercantilist, a nationalist, and a genocidal mass murderer.

The morality of 17th century England was different to today. He was who he was, and frankly European morals back then were widely different to today.

Oliver Who?

Sorry, we aren't too familiar with the royal squabbles from the other side of the pond.

He was the ruler of England after the Parliamentarians won the 17th century English Civil War.

Though I think it's unfair to lay blame for Ireland on him. Past English rulers/monarchs pillaged Ireland also, such as Henry VIII, and even the Norman kings centuries earlier

Being from Scottish decent (ancestor of William Wallace) OC is 'he who shall not be named' as far as I'm concerned.

IMHO, there is little to be learned from history in studying the habit of various megalomaniacs. Such people are very dangerous, they occur in almost all nations and at all times, they can cause mass insanity, but in the end they teach the sane the futility of following them.

As you confuse me totally as you futilely ask, "Why is he not recorded by the history books as a National Socialist? He was a democrat rather than an autocrat, but he was a mercantilist, a nationalist, and a genocidal mass murder" A question in history maybe only fools ask.

But maybe partially explained by your signature line, "'I'm an aristocrat.I love liberty,I hate equality." As that statement by you, IMHO, has nothing to do with the life and times of Oliver Cromwell. And if you somehow question the judgment of history on your own distinctions, you are nuttier than a fruitcake.

Anarcrchist420, you can't learn anything from history by pre imposing your interpretation on historians, Its a flawed assumption that will lead you nowhere. As for autocrats and royalty, IMHO, its a spent force, no longer valid anywhere today. The modern equivalent of royalty and aristocrats is dictatorships. Hardly something anyone champions today.

As I cite the old loveboat fantasy line, Tattoo, anarchist420 fantasy is that he is an aristocrat, therefore genetically superior to all us common folks.
