this is digusting. i pay 59.99 a month for 3 mbs dsl. people are getting 15mbps for less...

ia ctually need to call sprint, fvckers said that when i signed up for 3mbs it would cost 59.99 but they are still charging me 64.95, unless it gets changed on the next bill.

when i had cable, I got Verizon DSL mailers non-stop. I finally changed (because I was fed up with my cable internet provider anyway) and I was disappointed that I didn't get the speed advertised. Actually, not disappointed.. I was very upset... I finally answer their badgering mails by becoming a customer and they bait-and-switched me. Still, it doesn't get me as peeved as I was with my cable provider. I can't wait for FIOS where the speed doesn't depend on distance to my CO.

imo anybody that doesnt jump on fios isnt right in the mind.... but thats me.

OK, why?

Why not... copper is inferior to fiber. With fios you will be ensured that you have all brand new equipemnt to verizons nodes vs aging equipment with copper. so what if verizon is your only choice for phone service. You can always go cable and then use vonage or something like that. Not to mention fios will be getting all the support $ from verizon. You really think verizon is going to bother supporting those few holdouts on copper? I know if I was verizon and trying to phase out copper I wouldnt.

FIOS is the future 🙂.

In Northeast Verizon is also our local phone company...Can't wait till verizon starts offering TV and then I can tell Comcast to take a hike...

I don't want them having to rewire things to handle the UPS required for FIOS. I don't want them taking out my copper wiring from the house to the street because once that happens, I am a trapped Verizon customer - I can't switch to another phone company unless that company will re-run copper back to the house.[\q]

Unless you have a specific objection to it, VOIP would be a valid option should you be removed from the outside line. In fact, wiring the whole house for VOIP would actually be easier once they do.

i pay $0 for my cable broadband (apartment pays 😛)

somehow i'm guessing you pay slightly more for your apartment than you would if you didn't have 'free broadband'

I got FIOS last month and they didn't remove my copper lines.
Are you sure about that? Do you have more than one account going to your home?
I'm absolutely positive... They ran the FiOp from the street to my house a week before I had Fios installed, which I helped the guy install.

Have you looked in your ont? Is there a cable plugged into the voice jacks?

I have Adelphia. I think I'm on their 3mbps/768kbps service, for something like a bajillion dollars a month. Seriously, with basic cable it's almost $100 a month. Whenever I open their bill my bottom instinctively tightens up, and a tear comes to my eye. But it's either that or Verizon DSL, which up here is limited to 1.5mbps/512kbps, and is pretty shoddy on the oldschool lines we have all over.

Adelphia is a cable company, this thread is about Fios!!!

😀:laugh::laugh::laugh:! i get the best deal of all of u! i live in israel. 2mb for 40 sheckel or about 8 bucks!:laugh:😉🙂

Verizon is required to share the copper lines because they were bought with public money. Verizon is not spending any public funds on the fiber lines, so they don't want to share them with local carriers.
