Was my freedom of speech violated?

I wrote a complaint letter on www.MacNN.com 's feedback/suggestion forum regarding their moderator wlonh's abuse of power in deleting post at whim. I was under the impression that he wouldn't have the authority to delete post in the suggestion/feedback forum. I was wrong. Within 5 minutes of my post, it was deleted. I feel so violated. WTH? I can't even complain in the suggestion/feedback forum????? Then why did they even bothered to put that forum up?????

However, since this was not the first time wlonh had recklessly deleted post, I was suspecting of such and as such I had saved my post. Please check out my letter and tell me if my post deserved to be deleted. My complaint letter that was deleted

Since it is their forum, they probably have the right to delete any posts they see fit to.

A private business (in this case, a Web moderator) can essentially do whatever it wants under the law, as the Bill of Rights only guarantees protection against government officers. The moderator of a BBS has the right to edit or delete posts at will (I should know - I am an attorney and have had threads locked here!).

When you register for a forum you agree to their terms and conditions. Quit whining about your "freedom of speech".

Just to reiterate the same statements as noted above...you have to remember that freedom of speech is a two-way street. You have the right to make whatever complaint you wish about whomever you wish, but seeing that it's on their server and domain, they have the right censor or delete anything they damn please. *That's* freedom of speech at the grass roots level.

Mods that live too loose and fast tend to do themselves in sooner or later. Overzealous administrators a pet peeve of mine, actually, but I ran into this enough to know that the regular user never wins this kind of battle. :(

I am a moderator myself too. I wouldn't treat my members that way. If you guys think's this is cool, then cool, so be it. I see there is no point in exchanging ideas with you folks. You have already conceited to the power that be.

Peace.

If I had to guess, I'd say your feelings and pride got hurt and you got pissed and want to punish the person who is exercizing control over you. This is a childish and immature attitude. You have to realize that you are spoiled and refuse to accept the fact that you can't always win. Life ain't fair. I could be wrong about you, but I doubt it. I recognize the symptoms very well. That's exactly how I react in the same circumstances. :D

So what if you wouldn't treat your members that way? It's their forum, not yours.

<< You have already conceited to the power that be. >>

Nope. I don't think moderators should abuse their power, but I also don't think it was out of line for your post to be removed. Personal attacks/criticisms are usually unwelcome on any forum. My guess is that the moderators felt that your post was not something that should be posted in a public forum, and instead should have been addressed in an email or somesuch. Get off your high horse and get a clue.

you people are hopeless. too willing to comply with whatever the power that be tries to ram down you. Maybe I should go out and buy some DRDRAM too since this is what Intel wants to ram down my throat. You folks have no spirit. You have already being assimulated, you just don't know it yet.

PS. read over my post again. It was posted in a suggestion/feedback forum. How else should a suggestion/feedback forum be used? Why even have a suggestion/feedback forum if negative criticism cannot be posted there? In that case, it should be relabelled praise/compliment forum.

Dude -

Your freedom of speech ends where the private sector begins.
You are trying to be a virtual marytar, trying to give yourself the idea that you need to throw off the chains of oppression of the dreaded modetator as though he has done you some real harm.

It's just a message post. Deal. Freedom of Speech is a privildge, not a right, when it comes to private forums/sectors/etc.

Well you can't.

BTW-

<< Maybe I should go out and buy some DRDRAM too since this is what Intel wants to ram down my throat. >>

.
Intel is trying to cram RDRAM down our throat. DDR SDRAM is a much better technology that is backed by the rest of the industry.
