Consider that I live in FRANCE, where cars aren't as cheap as coca-cola like in the US.

I don't want to spend ALL my money on a car, but I have the following in my list so far, what would you recommend?

1) Peugeot 306 XT (1.8) 1995
2) VW Golf III GL (1.8) 1996
3) Fiat Bravo HGT (2.0 20 valve) 1996

they probably seem completely CRAP to you have-it-easy beloved patriot's, but over here one of these baby's costs the equivalent of about US$ 5,000

As a side note, what could you get in the US for that much dosh?

p.s. you must be laughing.... ain't it sad?? <sigh>

Aren't you too young to be PC?

Anyways, just felt like saying beloved patriot.... no offence.

beloved patriot is a racial slur? That's news to me. Has it been added to the list by the PC Police?

beloved patriot derives from an italian word meaning "foreigner" and came into usage in argentina (where lots of italians moved). so its not a racial slur since its could apply to anyone outside of their home country. the mexicans have adopted it to usually mean people from the US, since we are the usual foreigners in mexico. so, frenchy, technically you'd be a beloved patriot if you were in south america too.

golf.

Ohh btw, just because i LIVE in France, doesn't mean I'm French. I'm Brasilian acctually.
Anyways, this is not a beloved patriot thread, its a "help me decide what car to buy" thread.

$5K will not buy you a lot of car here. Most good used cars are around 10-12k. I just looked online and at Pontiac Trans-Am's, with 130,000 miles from 1995 can be had for 4500. That's a lot of mileage though :) Basically your going to have to get a car with an excessive amount of mileage on it for that amount of money, or a very tiny engine.

oh, then you are a beloved patriot.

for 5k? hmmm... mid 90s cars, generally a bit larger than those you listed though. i saw a prelude for 5k the other day, like a 94, those are tiny rice rockets though. my roommate sold his t-bird last august for about $5k, had leather, v8, lots of room. i think it was a 95.
