1) Considerit a lesson to concentrate on school rather than entertainment.

2) One can pass the ACT without using any calculator with the exception of your noodle.

I know that 89's aren't allowed but I used the 83 on my ACT.

You don't really need a TI-83+. I got a 36 on the math by using a TI-83+ SE, but I know I would have gotten just as high had I used a regular calculator.

Just get a friends. Most of the math is pretty simple though. I just like the graphing calculator for its screen to show what you typed in easily.

HP 48GX can't be beat IMO.

TIs feel like toys in comparison. RPN and a stack. Add MetaKernal and Erable, and you can perform all of the symbolic algebra of an 89, plus Laplace transforms, Equation Library built-in, Expandable memory, IR capability...

Find an engineer, try his (hers?) and you'll be hooked.

IR capable? sounds like it is able to communicate with other calcs? This definitely wouldnt be allowed in any exam rooms.

I do agree that the TI89 lacks a good equation library, and the user interface for equation solvers are terrible. Ill look into it, thanks.
