So basically I wanted to upgrade my aging machine (it'll be going on 5 years soon). I'm a gamer (though without the disposable income for a hardcore gaming rig), so I was looking to upgrade, processor, memory (RAM), graphics card and there may have been somethign else but I forget.

So with this info I passed it along to a friend who passed it to his computer guy.
I was recommended a new system since getting the new motherboard would require ect stuff like new power supply
This was what I was given:

ntel DP55WB Motherboard
Intel P55 Chipset, LGA 1156, 10 x USB, IEEE1394
High Definition Sound, Intel Gigabit LAN
Intel Core i5 750, 2.66Ghz, 8MB Cache, Quad Core CPU
4GB (2 x 2GB) PC3-10600 DDR3, 1333MHz Memory
Liteon Dual Layer DVD/RW
500GB Western Digital 32MB Cache SATA2 Drive
nVidia GT210 512MB VGA/DVI/HMDI PCIe graphics Card
19" Viewsonic Wide LED Backlit VGA/DVI monitor
Cooler Master CM330 Medium Tower Case with Front USB ports
Logitech Desktop 350 Keyboard and Mouse

All for AUS$1000

Now I've heard the nVidia GT210 is pretty low grade so I'm asking for an upgrade in that (any recommendations?)
But I do want an opinion on if its worth buying this system.
As I side note there are several things above I probably won't need
such as the harddrive, DVD reader, monitor, keyboard + mouse, and the Case if I put it all together (but I heard certain motherboards don't fit all cases?)

So yeah what do you guys think?
Any help will be much appreciated :)

EDIT: Hey Thanks for the replies so far, here is some information I should have added when I first posted.

My current computer:
Motherboard Model: ASUS LITHIUM
Motherboard Chipset: Intel 945P (Lakeport-P) + ICH7
Motherboard Slots: 5xPCI, 1xPCI Express x16
Processor Version: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.00GHz
Memory: 1GB (2 x 512mb) Memory, DDR2-SDRAM, 266.7 MHz (PC2-4200)
Hardrive: 160 GB Drive, Seagate ST3160023AS
Video card: nVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT (NV43), 128mb
Keyboard: HP PS2 Keyboard (2K-3)
Mouse: Microsoft comfort optical mouse 3000
And unfortunatly I can't figure out exactly what my case is called but my computer is a HP pavillion a1370a and here is an image if you want

And the website I'm making this purchase from is http://www.ttgroup.net.au/ which as you can tell is not a normal computer store.

Its the company that supplies the business where my mother works at and it's through her work that I'm making the purchase. Also the person who will build the computer for me (unless you think i'll be better off trying to build my own?) will be installing windows 7 on it (home edition I presume) for no extra cost so its still AUS$1000.
Sorry I don't have any information about the power supply coming with it but I can get that information.

Thanks for all the help so far its much appreciated.

NVidia G210 is a poor graphics card, if you want to game, stay away from that!

Intel Core i5 750, 2.66Ghz, 8MB Cache, Quad Core CPU is one of the best gaming cpus outhere for $200

You just need a decent graphics card, dunno how much you have to spend on that, for $150 buy an ATI5770

Looks good, just up the vidcard (to at least a 9800GT/5670). And what PSU does that have?

Australian dollars are much less than American, so the price seems reasonable.

Also, since no one has explicitly said this yet, yes, getting an entire new computer will definitely be way more bang for your buck. In fact, upgrading your CPU will probably be more expensive AND much slower than a new CPU/MB/RAM for the same price!

Noveu,

We can definately optimize that build. Also as others have said...GT210 makes a good paperweight...lol (well not really but still)

Link the website that you intend on making your purchase from and we'll see the available parts and the price and build you a rig.

We need that information first.

Also list your old computer so that way we can see if we can salvage anything from it (case..psu..HD)

Hey thanks for all your help so far.
I added in all the extra information (my rig and such) to my first.
Sorry I didn't do that in the first place.

Also with obtaining a better vidoe card I was looking at the ATI Radeon HD 4870 or the ATI Radeon HD 4850 for a little more affordability. I was hanging on for a nVidia card since I've always had one but the website I was looking at (http://www.extremetech.com/article2/...2347388,00.asp) showed some better performance from the ATI Radeon's. I'm not a fanboy I just want a good cad I can afford.

Thanks again for the help.

Edit: or would, like it has been suggested better to go for the ATI 5770?

5770 will keep your computer up to shape for a while. I wouldn't pick up any old architecture, especially if you keep your computer for 5 years +.
