And I must say that the British House of Commons with Tony Blair is FAR FAR FAR more entertaining and eloquent than the miserable excuses of American government that C-SPAN normally shows on live TV!

i think this is a function of americans wanting a plain spoken guy who seems trustworthy like a next door neighbor rather than an eloquent speaker that seems crafty and careful like a lawyer

no, it's a symbol of the american dream, coming from nowhere to making it big, yet remaining down to earth. the only group that wants that in their politician are the east coast ivy leaguers, where the old money is.
