Imaging religious people practicing what they preach, then we'd live in utopia....oops, what is this thread then?
No way. Killing homosexuals is the path to utopia!Originally posted by: Turin39789
if everyone behaved strictly according to the bible, things wouldnt be so great
Is Timothy Leary going to fly down from the heavens in a chariot of fire and take us to this utopia? You can count me out. The very idea of a utopia, like the idea of communism, is severely flawed. I'd rather have individuality than ecstacy.Originally posted by: Moonbeam
Humanity is asleep living in a wrong world. The people who could successfully inhabit have not evolved in sufficient numbers to make it possible. Long before we enter paradise, we will have to become fit to deserve it. It will require a planet wide awakening and massive effort to evolve our consciousness. Where will the pressure come from to impel this evolution. Perhaps near total destruction by nuclear war, biological war, nanobot war or environmental catastrophe, I don't know. Whatever or whenever such a cause might arise, it will mean that we will have to learn how to feel. There are going to be some really freaked out people when that happens.
Of course he is, whether or not Lennon was ever sober long enough to realize it.he's not talking about a communist utopian fantasy. he's telling mankind to think for himself individually.
Heh, you say 'tomahto', I say 'tomaeto'...a rose by any other name...if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck...you get the idea (or maybe you really don't).he's saying people should break down the boundaries that divide us. there's a possiblity of peace if we don't let ourself kill others in the name of patriotism, nationalism or religion. it's really a simple song, but its meaning still resonates.
No private possessions, no religion, and the 'communal' society are hallmark aims of the communist ideology.
Well I know that Lennon is not to be taken literally (or seriously for that matter), but apparently some people do.you're missing the point, the song's not to be taken literally.
