Was I too rude to this CSR?

If I thought you were serious in wanting an answer, I'd share what I think. But clearly the reason you posted this was to show everyone what a keyboard bully you are.

Yay for you, and your fingers of fury.
Not so much the case, no. I posted it right after while a bit angry but wondering if I was way off base (which I was and can see that clearly now).
How did it feel to pick on some helpless CS rep on the internet?
made me feel like an ass hole.
time to start thinking bout the man in the mirror
yea, that's what I was thinking.

I seriously wonder sometimes what makes people say that kind of thing, perhaps you can shed some light on the situation.
yea. I had been talking to another CSR that was of help for my move but when I asked about why I was being charged so much more than my father in law that lives 2 mi away the CSR said that I would then be transferred to someone that would resolve the issue.

Sid didn't have a last name, unlike the previous CSR. This told me I was entering a hostile situation. Like when someone tries to tack crap on to the end of a sale that you don't want and can't even use, but have been trained to deflect your comments into a sale so that's what they do. That's why I started the conversation off with "I have internet access, I don't want anything BUT internet access, I do everything else you offer thorough the internet".

And yet trying to get me to purchase more services is exactly what Sid did. After apologizing for nothing at all; this of course made every other apology completely meaningless. Sid told me to purchase more products from TWC because that is Sid's job. I wanted any human response at all, but instead I was put on hold for 10min while Sid looked up a phone number that can be found instantly on Google.

At this point I figured Sid was screwing with me; So I got pissed and started to screw back.

Yea; So there you go. I have serious temper issues that I need to address.

Recently I canceled my tv service because I'm using all internet tv. The conversation was a 15 minute back and forth on how he could lower my rate
This is what I was trying to preempt by being very clear about what I wanted; But then it turned into rude.

To have a credit score of anything less than 600 shows you clearly do not pay your bills. I am betting your wife's 730 is due to really not using credit yet.
No; my dad has the same name and stole my identity. Wife's credit score is based on a nearly a 5 years of income used to pay off a credit card and some consumer debt (financed some appliances/home improvement stuff)

Since you are obviously from a first-world country we'll just chalk that up to you being an idiot.
I've made a lot of progress since the days on the UBB board when my nonsensical gibberish would be translated into semi-english; Back then Russ commented "I can't imagine anyone ever being able to work with this guy". Now I'm a poor phd student.

take two minutes to find the CSR feedback form, write a brief but earnest apology, and ask that it finds its way to "Jillian"
Got the feed back form; I'm doing just this.

So why aren't you doing what your brother does? The best way to get what you want is to say I am going to switch providers.
I did this and they told me that there was no other provider near me;

I got to thinking.. isn't piling on more shit and calling this guy an asshole or whatever, kind of the same thing? If OP is being sincere, let's see what he does. Just a thought, call me an asshole too now. :sneaky:

Disgusting.

Honestly, what in the world makes you think berating a CSR is going to accomplish?

I actually had a lot more text in this post, but i decided to remove it since it would be rather rude to you...:\

Nah...rudeness not found.

This. I'd be pissed at that ridiculous level of customer service, too. Been there on the other side of it doing 10,000 things at once so I know that billing questions should always be handled over the phone, but that CSR was just a nut.

Remember, that guy is probably handling 6-15 customers all IMing him at the same time.

Yes you were rude but the CSR did seem to respond like a robot. Almost feels like a recruit taking his lumps from the drill instructor.

obviously you've never worked customer service before. what are they going to do? if they do anything they'll most likely lose their job.

at what point did they try to offer you more services? I don't see that at all. He said he couldn't help you and told you how to get the help you need.

It is obscured by broken english but:
Sidney: I would like to inform you that rise in the bill may be the cause of your promotional period end. For that you need to visit this URL https://myservices.timewarnercable.com/. In the mentioned URL may be you will see the other option for your service which might help you in reducing your bill.
Translates to "you will see other services you can add on"; the web page is nothing but a front end for signing up for more services, after I specifically and unequivocally stated I had no interest in any more services. The 'true bundle' is selling me stuff like a voip phone for $20 a month, saying it usually costs $40 a month and telling me i'm saving $40 a month by spending $20 more.

Having looked at that link I call bullshit on your description of what it is. You can view billing information and all sorts of information about your account and services you have with them.

It's the standard TWC log in. First, I must have been to this web page in the first place to even get to the chat, second the only use for the web page, other than paying your bill, is to add services. But maybe I'm wrong, I'll dig deeper; i'm not beyond admitting I misinterpreted what was being written by the csr.

It doesn't matter. Billing questions should never be answered via text. You need to speak to someone.

I don't think it's an excuse; But I was asked what was going through my head.

I think, if anything, I should be wary of my temper next time I start thinking that way.

You should have harvested your rage more and smited poor Sid through the internuts.

Jillian: Internet; I watch TV over the internet, I make phone calls over the internet... I can't see why anyone would need anything other than internet access.

Well, you opened right up sounding like a jackass, so no wonder they didn't care about helping you.

The "broken English" comment cracks me up... have you even read what you wrote? I can't count multiple misspellings and the sentence about your dad doesn't even make sense.

Good job though insulting a CSR that probably gets paid minimum wage to put up with assholes like you.

I get pissed off at worthless CSRs pretty much every time I call in to a conglomerate. But I don't go on a damn rant-fest and wall-of-text the CSR with insults and ignorance.

I get shit done and move on.
