I bought my 14.4kbps modem at Egghead... LOL...

I also remember playing the original doom they setup on a demo PC, so cool... Those were the days...

I remember EggHead as primarily a software retailer but wasn't into computars and only ever went there with a friend when they wanted to buy a PC game. But later I do remember buying schtuff from Onsale and being aware of their aquisition and ultimate absorption by Amazon since personally following the internets boom. Whereas Newegg was a Johnny-come-lately to the scene. So, no, I never thought there was any connection.

Now, can I haz a :cookie:?

Wasn't there an auction site named Egghead too? That place ROCKED! I bought a bunch of $300 ISDN routers from them for $40 at the time (late 90's). This was pre-Ebay.

That would have been, essentially, Onsale. I got a bunch of junk there too.

There was another more ghetto (close-out oriented) auction format seller too called Zauction.

Then there were group buy sites like Mercata that went the way of the dodo... NECX which was bought by Gateway nee Gateway 2000... Value America... oh the memories. lulz
