ok, me and a group of friends play B-Ball every saturday. one of the guys who plays with us always fvcks around. today, he missed 8 layups in a row in a very close game. i know the rest of the guys are getting tired of it too cuz we discussed it many times. we know that he is no putting forth the effort because he certainly has the ability

anyway, after the game, i lost my temper and told him that when he plays, it seems we are playing 5 on 3 instead of 4 on 4. i went on to say that he lost the game for us as usual, and i was yelling the whole time.

do i owe this guy an apology or not?

You probably could have done it a little nicer, but it sounds like he really sucks. Is he an ass or a good guy?

see, the problem is i think he is an ass for fvcking around all the time when the rest of the team is putting in the effort

brad, the worst part is he doesnt suck, he can hit jumpers and everything but he is always screwing around for some reason

its really frustrating knowing that you can win if only one more teammates puts forth some effort...

Some people just aren't made for competative sports...probably a lot of people on this board. ;) Just because it's a game doesn't mean it has to be all light-hearted fun. A lot of the fun comes with really playing hard and competitively. I'm sure the guy understands that the "outburst" was in context of the game and it shouldn't really effect anything outside of the sport. You can hate someone on the court and be their best friend off of it.

that is a very good way of putting it, i have no ill feelings about him off the court. in fact, he is one of my closest friends. when when it comes to game time....

I'm very competitive. Get in his face during the game, but after the game pretend like nothing happened. The court/track/field is another world than the one we live in, what goes on there stays there.

Not everything in life is about being the best....somehow with your success at becoming a Lifer in less than a year you wouldn't understand that I believe.

If you want real B-Ball join a league, pay dues, get officials and all that jazz....if someone is screwing games up they will be ejected.

However if you are a team there is really no way you can blame a single player...you picked him or someone there did....if everyone has the same feeling speak as a 'team' and let him know together.

Most of the time in the weekend pickup games in most sports I have witnessed the insanely competitive and the totally clueless at times....however most just fall somewhere in between....the fun is has when everyone is somewhere in the middle, either extreme ruins the game esp. the insanely competitive guy/girl.

You should consider finding another person for your "team". I would not be too surprised if he is too busy to play with you guys the next time you have a game.

If someone yelled at me about how I played basketball I would not go out of my way to have "fun" with them again.
