Was I in the wrong here?

I walk into the 5 story building where my class is. I walk into the elevator, behind 2 other women. The first woman to walk into the elevator is standing right next to the buttons. I say "three, please." She gives me this nasty look and she pushes button three. Then she yells loudly in the small quiet elevator "Anyone else? Fourth floor, fith floor?" And then she just glares at me for a minute.

Was I in the wrong for asking her to press my floor button for me or was she just being a nasty b!tch?

Im in elevators all day, whether it's at work or at school, and I always offer to press the floor buttons for people. I say "where are you going" and I push the floor.

That's not the normal reaction. Most people already on/or near the buttons usually ask me which floor when I get on the elevator.

I'd shrug it off as her being rude.

You could have pushed it, but most people usually ask if they are by the buttons, and if someone asked me I would just say sure. And then you would say Thank you. That woman is a beeatch.

If she's next to the only set of buttons, then yes she was rude. Maybe she wanted to you get real close to her so you could push the button yourself.

she was just rude for that comment. On a side note, you could use the stairs... I will *ALWAYS* obey the 3 down, 2 up rule for staircases and in most cases if I'm not tired take the stairs if it's less than 6 stories or so...

I think you were rude to demand her to press a button. You can instead just say "excuse me" as you reach in. Or you could kindly ask her to move back so you can press it.

However, she way over reacted and was being a bitch.

except in my current office building. the stairwells are for emergencies only... opening the door triggers an alarm. but we've got 16 elavators covering 14 floors, so it's not really a huge issue.

in college, there were a couple times when I would take the elavator to the 4th floor and then walk down to the 3rd just because I was super tired but didn't feel like getting dirty looks

You weren't rude - however, was the elevator somewhat crowded, or was it just the 3 of you? If it was a low #, then it would've made more sense for you to just push it yourself.

I would have had some fun with her.

"Um... I changed my mind. Can you push 4 please?"

If she grumbled, then I would have squeezed myself between her and the buttons and proclaimed she is now relived from button duty.

Man, one year, in one of the dorms I lived in, there was this huge b!tch, (400+ lbs) and she would never take the stairs. She lived on the second fvcking floor.

I hated it because I was on 4 and I would sometimes take the stairs (not as much as I should, but it was the top floor, so I wasn't holding anyone up). I just wanted to yell at her.

Her reaction was probably in part due to the fact you had it whipped out in your hand waving it at her when you said that.
