Woke up today and found I do not have a nvatabus.sys in my system. So, I load a Windows XP CD and copy it. Now, it says My ATI video drivers are not functioning properly. I reinstalled them and nothing changed. So I am seeing slide shows on everything...

What the hell is nvatabus.sys? Maybe something else got corrupted. Damn...

EDIT: THIS IS a DAMN NVIDIA IDE driver..read bellow

Ok, me thinking it somehow belongs to nvidia drivers...

Anyhow, the main reason I am so fuc**n' pissed is that fu$$n windows wouldn't even let me do the usual" last known working..." I was told the file is missing and...you're on your own. aaaaa...

NVIDIA fixed the SW IDE driver a long time ago. I've always selected "yes" to install the NVIDIA SW IDE Driver and never had a problem on any of my builds.

It was NOT fixed. I am reading google right now. Tons of peole experiencing the same problem. I guess Windows is not that bad after all... Tons from 2004 and 2005. When did they fixed it,yesterday?!?

I would assume it somehow relates to the mobo. If it's fine, doesn't mean it will never happen to you. I've just read that people had this problem come back with intervals of 1-2 years.

It sucks that Nvidia LIED to all of us,telling it's fixed. IT IS NOT. I had a different mobo with nvidia driver for 1 year and never had this problem.
Maybe it's more stable, but NOT fixed.

:\ Uninstall the driver, boot into safe mode, and use Driver Cleaner. I think there's an option in there regarding nVidia IDE or it might be the entire nForce chipset. Not sure, but play around with it... it will completely remove the corrupted driver so you can try a fresh install of it.

The more you're around computers, and the more time you spend troubleshooting, the more you'll realize that most of the problems exist between the keyboard and chair.
