It's a beautiful Sunday afternoon and I'm just lounging around on my front steps area.

My house is on a cul-de-sac FACING the direction of the street at the end. This is only unique to my house where as all the rest of the houses are facing each other.

1. The street is narrow that it only allows one side street parking, and only one more car width of traffic is manageable.

2. There is an open house on the street, 2 houses down from me.

3. Immediately on the left side of the road, there is a street sign from the town indicating "NO PARKING ANYTIME". Because if you park there, you are effectively blocking the half of my driveway.

This early-middle aged in a Benz coupe pulls up and parks in front of my driveway, where it's clearly marked no parking. She and her prepube teen get out of the car. Our eyes met and I told her, "I'm sorry you can't park there." She suddenly got bit emotional and started to give me an attitude right away- "Really? Not even for five minutes? You know what, forget it." She got back in the car and pulled into the house's now-available spot.

They both get out again and her 12 year old still waiting-for-her-period daughter gives me a stink eye the entire time.

I was appalled. This hag pulls up in front of my house and starts to give ME an attitude?

I was an inch away from putting her to her place. But I decided not to.

Now that I'm older, I don't have time for this crap and if there are things I wanna say, I say it. I no longer stew and simmer.

Should I have been more graceful and am I being petty? To be frank parking there poses no direct impact to me, since I can still squeeze out with my car.

Cut the "coolcoin eligible" crap, sweety. The Mods don't love you. We tolerate you . . . barely.

Well that there shows that shes an idiot, dont worry about it. Like there was some negotiation going on where you actually wanted her to be there.

Yea that, "you know what forget it" was very self absorbed.

Quality post, Zeze, but you probably shouldn't mention Coolcoin in the title if you're looking for one. The mods aren't a fan of begging posts.

I think that the Coolcoin Academy (basically me and the forum moderators at this point) would give bonus points for a original Microsoft Paint drawing illustrating the parking situation.

you waited way too long to assert your dominance. the second that benz rolled into your domain of control you should have ran out barking like a junkyard dawg.

Well, after reading your harsh descriptions of the mother and daughter it seems to me that you are aging into a Clint Eastwood "get off my lawn" kind of guy rather than a Mr. Rogers "won't you be my neighbor" guy. I personally prefer the latter for neighbors. I assume you are hoping that they didn't like the house...

You have to reason with folks like that. (Caution: salty language)
"Yup, really. You can't park there. Not even for 5 minutes. Not even once. Because everyone and their fucking mother wants to park there "for just 5 minutes" and then I get stuck. In my own fucking driveway. The FUCKING DRIVEWAY OF THE FUCKING HOUSE THAT I WRITE A HUGE FUCKING CHECK FOR EVERY FUCKING MONTH. THE FUCKING DRIVEWAY I HAVE TO FEEL LIKE AN ASSHOLE OVER BECAUSE I HAVE TO ASK FOLKS WHO CAN'T SEEM TO FUCKING READ NOT TO BLOCK LIKE YOUR FUCKING INCONSIDERATE ASS IS RIGHT NOW!!! AND YOUR EVEN TEACHING YOUR LITTLE FUCKING PROTEGE TO BE A FUCKING ASSHOLE LIKE YOU TO BOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! BE HAPPY I FUCKING POLITELY ASKED YOU TO MOVE RATHER THAN HAD YOUR CAR FUCKING TOWED OR TOOK A SHIT ON YOUR HOOD OR SIMPLY DECIDED TO VIOLENTLY AND FOREVER CLEAN THE STAIN OF YOU TWO FUCKTARDS OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH AS A SERVICE TO ALL OF MANKIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Or just install a parking meter with really high rates. If someone is parked with the meter expired, tow and impound the car for profit.

Nice job. People like that need to be put in their place more often, though it's unlikely she'll reflect much on her actions.

One day I hope to give no fucks. You should have added something like, "Why don't you park it up your ass, lady!"

Did she realize she was blocking your driveway? Did she see the no parking sign?

Dont know what there is to feel bad about. Who wants to get blocked in their own driveway? I feel like you handled it appropriately. As for her posturing and giving you mean looks after she found another spot, thats her problem. Let her stew about this grievous injustice of not being able to block your driveway.

Also,

Because if you park there, you are effectively blocking the half of my driveway.

So how would you be able to leave if she is blocking half of your driveway? Would you have to drive up on your lawn to get out?
