I just got an email from Buy.com and they have it for 16.99 + free shipping. I am such a sucker for good deals and I love wasting money. I never saw it but I heard it's pretty good and the disc seems loaded. Did you think it was any good?

Yep it was good. Lots of care to detail was put into it; was long, but not tooo long.

I am a fan of the books, so a bit biased for the movie.
Friends who had not read the books thought it was OK.
Friends who read the books, LOVED it.

Best Buy has/had a $10 gift certificate with pre-order of Potter

Not sure if its still going I didn't see it on their website just now.

Edit:pissed me off I missed it in theaters. Oh well 2 viewings of LOTR made up for it.

I liked it but loved the books. Only problem I had was the special effects in the theater were cranked up 100% and were way too loud while the music and voices were normal. Sure the DVD will be even better and cheaper than a party of three seeing it in the theater.

I LOVED the books and can't wait for the next one. I saw the movie (thanks Morpheus) and liked it, so I ordered it from buy.com for the 17 bucks

I never read the books, went in thinking it was going to be a great movie. Well I was dissapointed, it wasn't bad but I didn't find it a movie I enjoyed a lot either. It is good to watch, but nothing special imho.

its for kids!... the books sucked, as did the movie.. watched first 30 min while waiting for other movie to start.
if kids are the target audience... a kids is the main character and kids waited in line for hours with their parents to get tickets... then its a good indication that it was for pre-pubescent persons. and it was nuisance to watch.

The magic in the movie is NOT systematic. I thought that the resolution of the main conflict of the movie rested entirely too much on "things just working that way". I did not read the books. The rest of my family, having read the books, thought that the movie was a faithful adaptation. Their minds could fill in the logical gaps in the movie, whereas I could not.

Fellowship of the Ring was way better. Harry Potter = quaint British childnren's story reasonably well done. LOTR = epic, LARGER than larger than life, fantasty film.

The movie was a fairly faithful visualization of the book. Probably one of the most successful movies I've seen that captures what I pictured while reading the book, which is saying something. But ultimately I didn't like it. I wrote something here that went into the things that bothered me, but I figure you can make up your own mind when you see it.

Not my cup o' tea but I can see why some would like it.

Considering HP's huge success, many people were actually disappointed by the DVD announcement.

glen...no disrespect intended...but really...I saw the movie only because EVERY other movie was sold out...it was obvious that the target audience here was children....the movie was based on childrens books right? I'll watch a movie based on books for adults with no problem....only reason I'd watch a movie like this is if I'm taking my kids (which I dont have any) or a field trip or something like that...I hated it...:disgust:

buy honestly...you're free to like it...different strokes for different folks.. :)

cheerios :)
