My uncle just gave me his barely used 11 month old Toshiba 1905 S301 laptop. The warranty runs out in about three weeks and he told me I could extend it a year for $70 if I do it before the year is up.

I don't have any experience with laptops so is spending the money a good decision or not?

Make sure that is a manufacturer's warranty. I am pretty sure that Toshiba's extended warranty for Satellite series is $149 which extends it an additional 2 years. I have seen a few 1905 (PS192U-xxxxx) come through the shop. A good portion of them suffer from shutdowns which were alieviated by blowing out the heatsink and fan. They have a slightly higher failure with the NIC, otherwise just typical laptop failures like bad HDD's and keyboards.

He could have been mistaken about the exact price details and length.

If it were a desktop I wouldn't even consider it but laptops are a quite different beast I gather.

Appreciate the feedback.
