I checked out espn.com and at that point they were down like 21. Then I check out the final score and the Lakers win by like 9 points. Seems kobe went off. But what else happened cause I don't think even kobe can carry a team down 20 in the third without shaq. Did Fisher, Fox or Horry finally start draining 3's.

Basically, the role players started hitting their shots, and the defense picked up. Kobe tried the entire first half to get his teamates involved and, they couldn't hit a thing. In the second half, they started hitting, starting with a nice few minutes from Lindsey Hunter. As they started hitting the defense just got insane. They held Washinton scoreless for over 5 minutes at one point. They scored 42 points in the third quarter to take a 3 point lead after 3, and then Kobe saw to it that the game was over at that point. Awesome game, too bad you missed it.

Well, he leads the team in assists at 5.6 per game, and is the only player on the team, with Shaq out, that can create shots for himself and his teamates, so it's really not that big of a surprise. Plus, Phil told him to concentrate on his teamates, and he did. A little too much at times. Where this illusion that Kobe is a ball hog comes from I have no idea. It actually would have been over 20 assists if the teamates could have hit a shot in the first half.

hehe I like kobe, but I really didn't think I'd see him dish out 15 assists. Seeing as how shaq is out I was really surprised to see 15 dimes. I just thought they got down big because he tried to take control with shaq out. But if everybody is hitting the jumpers 15 assist can come easy.

Like I said above, if his teamates could hit anything in the first half, he would have had over 20 assists. He set up guys for SOOO many WIDE open shots that they just bricked right and left.

btw wanted to mention for the folks out home who haven't checked the box office...Kobe had a triple double and set a career assists high (23pt, 15assists, 11boards)...and _damn_ that defense was suffocating during that 3rd-4th quarter stretch

as for the comment that anyone can get 15 assists...barely 1 player averages 10.0/game (Miller) this season, so it can't be _that_ easy, don't you think
