So 3,000 would be 10,500 grams, or 23.15lbs of 98.6% gold.

I'd say that was probably a lot back in the 1500s.

Actually probably not, since back in the day gold was abundant and one ducat probably bought you a beer. Damn that's a lot of beer though.
