Warrenty claim yields new computer!!!!

We sent in my Sisters HP 1.2Ghz Celeron notebook for a bad LCD (backlight goes out), got home today to find a message saying that the cost to replace the LCD is enough for them to replace the entire computer! So in exchange for 10 hour WUs I should be getting ~3:45 WUs!!! It is a 1800+ with 256mb (DDR???)

My entire home fleet is now AMD powered.

BTW HP makes lousy PCs in my experence

On a good day I think I coud hit close to 20WUs!

Nope, Staples extended warrenty. When we sent it in to HP (same problem when it was less than 1 year old) on the origional 1 year warrenty they put a small .5" long crack in the screen and sent it back saying that we abused it when acctualy one of their techs broke it.

Had the same thing happen to a friend of mine, an HP 600 Celly, sent in for warrenty, and came back broken.

What I don't understand is that those big companies can do such a thing to even small products, the effect they get is that costumers won't buy there goods anymore, and, like we see here, they spread the word!
I hope Apple also has a good service policy, got to send in my PB very soon...
