Yup, the "Excitable Boy" - I kind of think of him as the Hunter S. Thompson of the Southern California singer/songwriters, he had songs like "Werewolves of London", and "Lawyers, Guns and Money", but also wrote some softer, serious songs (Linda Ronstadt covered "Carmelita" and "Mohammed's Radio") and even did some symphony arrangements.
A twisted mind like Zevon's will be sorely missed. Like most artists who challenge their listeners intelligence to keep up with him, he never got the acclaim he deserved. Thanks for the heads-up, I'll be sure to tune in Letterman tonight.
