i don't know if anyone saw the play during the pack and bucs game today...farve was intercepted....bucs are running back...and chad clifton is following after the play but totally out of it not going to make the play...and warren sapp comes and blind sides him...injuring him...and taking him out of the game...then has the gall to pose a muscle man deal over the guy he just injured...

aftet the game the pack coach says he didn't appreciate the shot he took and then celebrating...instead of withholding a comment...sapp has to be baligerant and talk smack...

guy is a P.O.S in my book...i don't care how good of a player you are...there is no place for that type of action in any sport...i hope he gets a hefty fine and a nice payback from some disgruntled lineman watching...

I saw that play. My Packers lost. :(

But yeah, that was horrible. Chad Clifton was already not 100% but Warren Saap decides to give him a total blind side blow when he was just trotting along and had nothing to do w/ the play. Theres nothing that says he can't, but geez... have some decency and there was no need even to use even close to that much force. :( He then decides to show off about it.

As I sit here in my Bucs sweats, tshirt, and hat, I have to agree. Never liked him, he runs his mouth too much, and that his was definately uncalled for. But for the Packer's coach to lower himself to his level, that was wrong too.

That being said..

MY BUCS ARE 9-2!! MY BUCS ARE 9-2!! MY BUCS ARE 9-2!! MY BUCS ARE 9-2!!

The hit was clean. Someone just has to tell that lineman to keep his damn head up. I mean my God, what the hell is he thinking just wandering down the field not paying attention to the players around him? It was an invitation to be laid out. I can't really blame Sapp, if you've ever played football you know that those kind of opportunities don't come often and if you have the chance to make a monster block, you will do it. I've done it and guys have done it to me (HS football). Hell, I've seen it in practice, amung teammates. I only saw the play itself and didn't catch the aftermath, but celebrating over his body is definately uncalled for. But, knowing the kind of adrenaline that must have been in his body during the play, I have to say that I would have done the same thing. Football isn't a game where you play nice to each other. A little swagger, a little cockiness, that gets into the minds of the other team and can make you play better. I did catch the post game reaction, and getting into a shouting match with the Packers coach was something he should have just walked away from, but I can't fault him for the hit. It's the celebration that makes him an asshole.

The hit itself was clean. Football is a game of collisions, and you have to be ready to be hit regardless of where you are on the field. IMO, the only issue here is posing over his body and getting into a shouting match with the coach, who incidently basically called Sapp out. All Sapp was planning on doing was shake his hand.

That's a bunch of $#it the play was 20 yards away from Sapp who was "wandering" himself saw a chance for a cheap shot and took it:|

dude your head is way up your arse....the incident wasn't even in the play it was half way across the field and had nothing to do with the play...sapp is a dirty loud mouth who needs to be beaten...i would bet a million dollars that if he was blind sided in such a manor that he was injured or knocked out of a game...he would have some lame statement about it that the player who cleaned his clock was dirty....

as for your monster block....i would agree with you if it actually has something to do with the play...this was a total cheap shot...there was no way it was called for...just a dirty player doing a dirty play...i have played football as like many others have...and have seen this happen before...still thought it was dirty then for someone to blind side someone who is 50 yards from the play...those monster blocks are the one you see on a punt return...or a crack back block by a WR....those are a decent block...at least it was on someone who was going full speed and in the play....

maybe i am wrong just my personal opinion.

Not too many ex-football players in here obviously...

Yes, it was an opportunistic shot/cheap/etc.....BUT

The play was still live, the ball carrier could have ran anywhere...the fact that he wasn't expecting to get laid out is his own fault. He was an observer during that play...and paid for it when he should've been alert.

It's a shame he was injured...it's crappy that Sapp acted the way he did (although he wasn't aware the guy was hurt), but it was completely legal.

I've seen similar shots taken on punters when they just stand there watching the play unfold...and BAM! someone takes them out - because you never know where the play is going to end up and you have to account for any potential tackler...regardless of where they are on the field.

And yes, almost everyone who's ever played at any level has taken a block or hit someone in a similar situation. You'll keep your head in the game after one of those...it's better to block them legally when you can than have to fight them once they realize they're still in the play - then again, you're always in the play when you're on the field...that lineman forgot that.

Dirty turd? That is a new one. Turds are already dirty. Just call him a turd. Or an extra juicy turd. Because they are already dirty and stinky.

yeah it was legal, but the celebration afterwards that he had injured the guy is what makes him the "dirty turd"
