Warranty Question

I recently purchased an HP Pavilion notebook off Newegg November 30th. After eyeballing and using a level it became clear to me that the front left portion of the laptop casing is actually warped upward and doesn't sit flat on any work surface. Is this considered a "return for replacement" worthy defect? And since the item is now deactivated is that even possible? Would HP then step in? I know it's not the end of the world but I really do hate settling for mediocrity with electronics I use daily.

It's under warranty, whether it's currently sold by HP or not. It's a 12-month thing, and they have to honor it. If you call Customer Service and act upset enough... mention the specs, as specified in "dimensions" just say it's warped and the frame is bent, they should take care of it. "It doesn't sit flat on a level surface and the machine came warped out of the box" should make them fix it.

Don't go through HP though. Newegg is very cool about these things and if you put up a fuss, they WILL pay shipping.

(edit) your link doesn't seem to be working...

So here's a follow up:

-Emailed newegg returns, explained situation.

-While waiting for reply I decided to see if readjusting screws and physically bending the case would help laptop sit level, and to my surprise it worked like a charm.

-I told newegg that although the laptop is still visibly warped it now sits level, and I am not interested in pursuing a replacement.

-Newegg emailed me back saying they were happy I didn't want to replace product, but to compensate me for laptop being warped in the first place they are going to credit me $25 on my next purchase.

I will ALWAYS do my tech shopping there, that really is stellar.
