Warranty on RMA'd hardware?

Long story short...video card has two year warranty, fan failed after 1 year, RMA'd for replacement card. Got new card, however fan is failing yet again, want to send back for another replacement but they are telling me warranty has expired. Shouldn't I get a 'reset' on the warranty to when the replacement card was sent to me, or do hardware warranties typically only cover the the period of time from the original purchase, regardless of any replacements? Tried looking for specifics on this on manufacturer website but didn't find any info.

Generally reputable vendors will offer a warranty between 30-90 days on products sent in for repair, and if it goes past when your warranty would have normally expired, you get whichever is longer.

So for example, say you buy an Asus G75 laptop, and a week before the warranty goes out you send it in for an RMA. When it comes back it will have a 90 day warranty on that repair, and it will supersede your limited warranty. If you get the unit and say 6 months in you send it in for an RMA, then your limited warranty will be longer than 90 days, so that one takes precedence.

However, if you're in doubt, then you should really contact the company you're dealing with for the RMA and find out exactly what their policy is. You may have just gotten the "new guy" who doesn't quite know all the policies forwards and back yet.

Scott is absolutely right. The RMA part gets the remainder of the original warranty or 30-90 days from date of replacement, whichever is longer.
