Warranty for laptops question

when companies say they give you 1 or 3 year warranty, and you accidentally drop the laptop.. does that fall under the warranty category?
I noticed Dell had a specific category for accidental warranty along with limited warranty.. and that accidental one does cover the dropping the laptop..
what would the non-dell companies do when you drop the laptop and break a component?

Most companies require you to purchase additional accident
warranty coverage including Dell it's purchased seperate from the
included warranty.

darn.. so if they don't even have it (like pctorque.com) i'm screwed if i accidentally dropped the laptop.. no point in getting warranty for more than 1 year then as far as i can tell for places like that...

if whichever company i order from had accidental coverage i'd probably get like 2 or 3 years of it..

i broke my lcd once by dropping my laptop, and thankfully my school replaced it for free.. just don't want it to happen again to a new laptop

Gateway also offers extended accident protection on their laptops. The Gateway M675 and M505 laptops would be alternatives to a Sager if accident protection is a priority for you. See this forum for reviews and this forum for discussion on these laptops.

You could also check out this company they sell notebook insurance.

You drop the notebook, it's your fault. The defect is on your end not the manufacturer's.

When buying a new laptop always get the 3 year warranty. You will almost certainly use it. Laptops are notoriously quirky.

But that does not cover accidents the my above post regarding the
insurance company does cover accidents.
i have it on my T40 covers at no deductuble $3500 bucks
for $210 a year covers everything traveling or at home.

Check your homeowners insurance, or renters insurance, to see if it covers things like that. If not you might be able to get a rider tacked on.
