I ran IE6 today only to find a new toolbar that's labeled Xupiter and it contains a bunch of sponsered links. I never installed it, never gave permision for it to install... how did this happen?

Also this bloody toolbar program installed itself into my msconfig.

Isn't this illegal?

Actually, you did. You (or someone on your system) visited a site which asked you if they could install it, you (or someone on your system) said yes... Go here to uinstall it.

hey thanks a lot for the link bill, I wasn't able to find it when visiting their website... how'd you find it?
I am always very aware to those messages that ask me whether I would like to have certain software installed on my pc and there is basically no way I could have allowed it.
Before getting your responce I decided to try to delete the files but that didn't work because windows claimed they were being used so since I have Win XP I simply reverted windows to the last save period.
Thanks

Google knows all ;)

Thats why I made sure to say 'or someone using your computer'. I haven't seen any reports of this company doing any tricks (other than deploying it to websites where people install it not knowing what it is) so 'get around' the end user having to agree. I haven't seen the actualy digitial signature, but it could be quite misleading (as Gator's is).

Cheers,
Bill
