here are 3 pieces of evidence from 2 triplex R9550s
The story is:
Some "victims" in Taiwan bought these card, and the VRAM on them are SUMSUNG TC40 4ns, however not only they run DDR333 (6ns) in BIOS default, but are unable to "overclock" them back to 500 (TC40 default) and even 400 (ATI official Default of Radeon 9550, 250/400).
First, they think these card may be just flawed, but one of them accidentally "detached" the surface of TC40 RAM by removal of his DIY heat-sink devices. he was shocked by "what lies beneath"...
a Vdata 6B RAM!!! therefore he revealed the terrible remark event on PCDVD forum... and the company seem responsed quite poor on this event. One was self-told from triplex even threaten to sue the victims
Sorry, I am from Taiwan, so my English are quite poor, and I do not know if the brand is internationally or not. But just let people know the event, and beware of TRIPLEX products.
