Warning to anyone with a PS2 reserved, or anyone who wants one at launch

Did a quick search and didn't see anyone else had posted this, but Sony announced that thier PS2 shipment was going to be 500,000 units instead of the rumoured 1,000,000 for Launch day (Oct 26th). I know a lot of us are PC nuts, but any console gamers who had pre-ordered one, check with your game store! At EB, I had to pre-pay the thing in full weeks ago...
In fact, Pre-ordered on March 1, pre-paid in full with 2 games and a memory card reserved on Aug 31, and I still am not guaranted to get one! (not a huge city or a tiny store either - biggest chain in North America, city of about 120,000 people - They have $550 of my money)

So:

Pre-ordered before June AND pre-paid in full -> good luck, you might be ok to get one on Launch day.
Pre-ordered only - Call your store!!!
Not Pre-ordered - Try a store that doesn't take pre-orders on launch day, EARLY! (Wal Mart, Best Buy, etc...) But a warning... stores may get as little as 4 units.

Remember... it is estimated that 1.2 million pre-orders were taken for these 500,000 units.

They charged you $550??? I hope you reserved some games for that amount. If not you got ripped off. Mine was only $300.

Yeah, it'll be fun to watch. I don't really care, got the JPN one, and except for bemani and yarudora, the games aren't too hot anyway. But GT3 should change that.

You won't get it in a month after release - I just got email, the unit I preordered, they expect it on december. yeah right.
And I was gonna eb@y that thing too.

PS2's actually pretty cool. I just got a 24 key usb electric keyboard for it yesterday, and you can play music on it. But like I said, most of the games aren't too hot. I've had mine for 1/2 year and I only have 3 games for it so far.

Sorry, $550 is in Canadian dollars... $449 plus tax, plus $30 to reserve 2 games and a memory card.
$449can=$299US
