First, this may not be the politically correct spot for this but if it keeps someone else from signing up and getting as pissed off as I was...
Signed up for Student Advantage (discounts for students online and at retailers), never used it anywhere but wanted to drop the underage fee for dollar rental (i'm 22 and it's an extra $20/day for 10 days)
According to this page Link, I get 15% off "Sensible Rates" and they drop the under 25 fee.
When I called I was told the cost for my 10 day rental would be $478.91 (with no under 25 fee), compared to the advertised website rate of $255 (+200 fee for 10 days) making it cheaper without student advantage.
Long story short, called student advantage and got the run around about it being a corporate rate and the website being wrong (enterprise was $266 + $15/day on website), called Dollar and confirmed it was not error, they suggested I go with regular rate + $200. Last call I got a friendly and knowledgable CSR who told me that if I signed up for BJ's Wholesale club (I have one local), I could get my car for $254 out the door.
Needless to say I'm not pleased with SA, especially since I renewed for a year on my first call and they can't cancel the order an hour later (I have to wait 3 weeks to get my card and then mail it back).
To make this qualify as a hotdeal and aviod the chorus of "wrong spot" posts: BJ's
