Warning on fake sandisk flash drives

My frist ever counterfeit from ebay. I thought I'd post pictures to warn others (before sending it back) on what the fake ones look like, although they look very similar to the real sandisks. I couldn't find any other pictures or anything on what fake ones might be. There are differences. I'm fairly sure that the drive is a fake, it goes along with the article here that was posted a while back. The fake drive also has two partitions, one is partitioned to almost 4gigs exactly and the other is unpartitioned. Also, if you look at the properties of the counterfeit, it shows as "SanDisk USB 2.0 Flash." Real one shows as "SanDisk Cruzer Mini."

Before buying from ebay, try and ask the seller for more pictures of the drives. Wish it didn't happend to me but I'm getting a refund from the seller. He said that he gets the flash drives from a local seller. Should I report this to ebay??

Here's what he said exactly:
"Our apologies, we have no intent to provide fake products. We sell
these items on consignment for a local dealer and up to now have been
satisfied with the quality of the items.
Please return the item to us and we will issue and immediate full
refund of your payment.

it works, but it's fake...tried to install the cruzer lock on it, but the program couldn't find the drive on the fake one.

repost where?

Everyone knows that ebay is mostly about selling stolen or counterfeit goods.
Sure some people who "no longer want" item "x" also sell there, but that's a small percentage.

Well I didn't know that. Thanks for the tip.

From a performance standpoint, what's the difference between fake and real drives?

performance is slower on the counterfeit drive
Took around 15 seconds to transfer a 115MB file on the real drive
Over 5 minutes with the fake drive.

There's the big difference right there. Based on those benchmarks, the fake drive appears to be USB1.1.

What a scam... 🙁

I wonder if SanDisk would replace the fraudulent copy with a real one, since it would help them fight against the counterfeits.
