do not use the live bios feature from their website. i had flashed my bios twice with it with no trouble at all but when i tried it for the 1.6 bios update i received error message and upon rebooting nothing at all, computer just sat there with black screen. the cd-roms come on and i got power but no post or nothing. MSI had me RMA the board to them and replaced the bios chip and flashed it to latest bios for me. so far they haven't mentioned any money and have sent the board back to me, still waiting for it.

Thanks for the tip...I don't think I'll be updating the BIOS on my sister's machine anytime soon. :)

I don't know what my Bios is yet, but is there any REAL need to update? I haven't seen anything that I can think of that really needs to be updated. Maybe I don't like the way my SBLive is under Windows 2000 quite yet, but that could be a driver issue for all I know.

hclarkjr,I have flashed twice now,the second time for the 1.6 Bios, when I tried this a few weeks ago the only problem I had was "Invalid CPU frequency " come up on screen after bootup would not let me go further,so I just went into BIOS,& saved & exit(did not change anything) & it was fine so far no problems been playing lots of games etc,When I use the Liveware Bios download I make sure no anti-virus or anything is running in the background.Btw it`s showing 1.6 for Bios version so it flashed ok.

:)

hclarcjr: From what you and Mem posted, it would seem that the 1.6 BIOS isn't compatible with earlier version's CMOS setting code. Did you try clearing CMOS?

yes i cleared the cmos and tried different video cards and all i could think of. it wouldn't even boot to floppy drive by holding the control and home key during bootup, which tech support had me do. that's when they had me send them the board.they called early this week and said they put new bios chip in and it booted right up for them. i did not have any programs running at all during the flash except my browser. i flashed this way twice before with no trouble at all and the only reason i tried the flash was they said it fixed problems with nvidia video cards, i was having some trouble with my geforce.
