So is Crytek the new ID software? In times past it was only ID software that melted PCs. Rage made me quite sad.

After Crysis 2, I will reserve judgment for the released product. C2 was a joke compared to C1. Hopefully they pull off something amazing this time, not just even more invisible tessellation.

Agreed. We need a new saying.

But can it play Crysis 3?

Crysis 1 is so 2007...

No. Not even with AA and AF off and without any mods. A 7970 ghz oc will come close to touching 50 FPS without AA and without mods.

Not only Crysis 1.2, but just the final boss battle on Crysis 1. There is so many particle affects, it can still grind you down and stutter the most beastly system.

Before Crysis 3

After the Arctic explorers took a break and played 30 min of Crysis 3 on their Alienware M18x laptops.

I've been looking forward to a next generation PC game that will do what Far Cry and Crysis did for PC gaming. I am hoping Crytek actually delivers and not hypes it up like last time with Crysis 2. This could be fun. Crysis spurred us to keep upgrading for a while just to hit that 60 fps magical number. Come on Crysis, let's elevate PC gaming once again to new heights, but please, not with invisible ocean/concrete barrier tessellation.

CryEngine 3.4 shows dynamic tessellation which looks a lot more innovative than how tessellation is currently used.
•Revamped DirectX 11 Tessellation
DX11 support and tessellation has come a long way since Crysis 2. Phong, PN triangles and displacement maps, along with no need for pre-tessellated assets, makes CryENGINE's DX11 support among the best in the industry.

While people are disappointed with Crysis 2, Crytek gets a pass from me for what they have done with Far Cry and Crysis 1 for PC gaming graphics. Let's give them a chance.

These will be the concretiest concrete blocks ever.

Or their volt-mod turns it up to 11.

Probably. I thought Crytek was one of the developers that was dissing on the PC market because of supposed piracy. Are they reversing this stance now?

not reversing. Far from it. They just woke up and realised that consoles are not getting updated as fast so see a few year gap in their future income, so are turning back to the only other market that will be able to run their games / keep them employed.

no other games look anywhere near as amazing as crysis 1.
so it wasn't bad programming.

It also runs surprisingly well on older dual core systems (you want a quad though for the very high settings of course). And DX9 high settings at 720p on now low range GPUs like Radeon 4670 or 8800GT? Still runs well and looks great.

Tessellated vegetation, leaf by leaf.

Tessellated frogs......oh ya, come at me bro!!

:D, add in millions of particles (maybe via PhysX ala Mafia II), DOF, real-time volumetric fog/shadows, global lighting and multiple area lights, GPU cloth and vegetation physics, and it's going to be like Metro DOF + Mafia II PhysX + Unigine Heaven extreme tessellation on 'roids.

This game is all in on Kepler architecture's strengths. Let's lift the hood shall we:

Extreme tessellation - check

GPU cloth - check

Lots and lots of particles - check

Crysis 3 - CryEngine3 Tech Trailer

NV is gonna sell a lot of GTX780 SLI setups with this game. This game just might be Kepler's time to show us what it's got.
