I once trusted Antec, but after my True430 PSU died on me and took out my motherboard, I did some research. Turns out Antec power supplies aren?t as good as I once thought. Many people are experiencing failures and the majority of these failures are linked to Antecs use of CHEAP capacitor brands and INADEQUATE cooling. No wonder my room used to feel like a kitchen!

Its no secret that Antec is not a top tier brand.
Seasonic/Enermax/PCPC/Fortron are better choices. Antec is still decent though.

Of course PC P & C is a top tier brand.. Their prices are top tier too.. I've only got two of their 850W SSI's and two of their 510W SLI PSU's.. If you want, you can buy me 16 more 510W Deluxe or SLI PSUs for the rest of my systems.

You can purchase the PC P & C "silencer" series for around 100 dollars. Cheaper than the highest models of Antec.

i don't need to find anything for you to prove my point that all components can fail.

if you're trying to prove that pcp&c is a better psu than an antec, especially the original trues, than you're preaching to the choir and i doubt anyone here would argue with you.

Antec PSU's are very popular. That contributes to how many you actually hear about dieing. I must admit though, Antec has not been impressing me lately.

It would be nice if Anand consulted PC P&C for a stress test of PSU's, so we could get a good measure of how well these top PSU's really handle.

And thanks for bumping my thread. Hopefully new system builders will heed the warning and steer CLEAR of Antec power supplies. They continue to use the cheapest taiwanese capacitors when there are MANY reputable japanese brands available. Its obsurd to spend the money on antec when you can snag a PC P & C PSU for around 100 (silent series). Antecs name is heading downward fast.

Can you tell what other 'good' Japanese brands are out there?

Is it only available in Japan? I don't see it on newegg.
Are there any Japanese brands which are more widely available?
