WARNING...Arcticooler clip is terrible! Will not work with Asus or MSI converters...

Tried to use this new Arcticooler on with my Asus s370DL slotket and the darned thing does NOT go on! In the process I chipped the edge of my Celeron2 566 and scratched the heck out of the green part of the processor. Also the resistors directly beneath the socket370 lugs on the Asus were scratched.

Fortunately both the Celeron and the slotket survived. Very POOR clip design, Agilent, that it is incompatible with MSI and Asus slotkets. Even with minor brute force (!), it will not work due to clip clearance problems. Back to my Golden Orb (which fastening mechanism now seems gentle in comparison)...

Complete waste of $$$

Totally agree!

I have a dead ASUS CUSL2 and a chipped 700E from this POS(my opinion). Some people have gotten into to work, but I tried for 15 minutes before it killed my components and my budget, as I now have to get a new board.

I don't get it...

I thought the agilent cooler is smaller than the GORB...

Too bad you couldn't get it to work to give us some benchmarks..I was looking forward to reading some good news :(

oh well, I'm sticking with the gorb for now..

I'd like to share my experiences with the Arcticooler. I had little problems installing this cooler, other than that I was extra careful putting it in. The clip had to be adjusted somewhat, but I'm running the Asus A7V with an Athlon 800 and since all the capacitors were on a riser, there were no space issues.

I kept the stock TIM (thermal interface material) and after "burning it in" I had a temperature difference of 25°C. The chip now runs at 40°C idle, needless to say this is very impressive for a heat-spewing Athlon. It really is a high performing HSF. Good luck.

I bought my arcticooler from avnet and the clip broke trying to put it onto my A-Bit Slotket!!! I've tried calling AvnetMarshall and all they keep saying is "we'll call you back" or "call us back later, my manager isn't here" I want my $40 back. Anyone have any success returning their Arcticooler?

They finally called me...

Ask for a girl named Elvia right away...don't even bother explaining your problem to the one who answers the phone. She's the one who finally took action on mine and got me an RMA.
