This is by far the lowest price hdtv-ready plasma set I have seen (keyword: I as me). Granted this is a Vizio which is another reason for such a low low price. S&V magazine did like it however.

Not a bad deal, but with overstock.com don't expect to get it anytime soon, but with $2.95 shipping thats not too shabby. Just some highlights that jumped out at me are listed below.

The 90 days warranty may blow the deal to some, not sure though you can always add extended warr. for hundered more for peace of mind.
Do not forget this is a Plasma set, not lcd nor dlp so its price is somewhat unbelievable for a brand new 42" set. I also think Costco carries Vizio lines in their warehouses, that said the Vizio brand may not sound so bad.

This is a nice set that I've had for a little over a year now. I recently paired it with a HD STB and the picture is excellent. It is primarily used for xbox and htpc duties, performing wonderfully in those cases as well. Has 1xDVI, 1xVGA, 2xComponent (1 progressive), as well as a few of the other lower end inputs. Good viewing angles and hangs nicely on a wall, though it does come with a detachable stand and speakers.

Is this refurbished? Other places I see it selling for around the same price with the same 90 day warranty. Manufacturer site says their standard warranty is 1 year which is what I'd expect for new PDPs.

As for the extended warranty, I got one through Overstock once and it turned out to be a non-repair warranty. If the item breaks, the want you to send it to them and they issue you Overstock store credit. You have to pay for the shipping. That's for a replace extended warranty. I don't know which kind they offer for this PDP but I'm guessing it's probably a replacement warranty since it's refurbished but still, that's a pretty low price for a warranty. The only problem with store credit is they might not have the item anymore by the time you need it "replaced". You end up getting something else that's not as good a deal.
