Technics SL-1200 MII or SL-1210 for $433. The difference between these and the SL-1200 MII...the SL-1210s are MK3 models, meaning they're newer. The MKIIs are the EXACT MODELS from when they came out in the 1970s. They MSRP for like $599 and sell usually for $500 everywhere else.

I was talking to Panasonic Cust.Serv. center the other day and asked about the 1200s...she said when they get some in (rare) they usually sell for $280, and they go quickly.

From my understanding the 1210 were originally the european used tables. They were able to play the record backward other than being black they are pretty much identical to the mk2s. The mk3ds have a quartz switch which puts the record to 0% pitch no matter where the pitch bar is.

I don't think they ever sell for $280 retail. Even used that would be an awesome price. Spinn wanna give more insight on obtaining these babies for that price?

The 1210s are Euro tables...that link shows they use 220v.

The deal can be found at Panasonic Factory Service Centers that get in all types of overstock and refurbished stuff. The 1200s however, are hard to come by. When they do come in, they usually disappear quickly. $280 was what they quoted me they sell them as...new, but labeled refurb (since it's coming out of the service center).

CoolTechie: That are nice prices for those Vestaxes, but where else can you find Technics SL1200s for $433? I think that this price is "hot" in comparison to most other places.

$433 is an awesome price, and I doubt I can find it anywhere for that price. They had some great prices on input faders for the 05pro. Some other items were a bit pricey....07 ISP edition.

However I wouldn't want to imagine oversea shipping charges on a ~30 pound turntable.
The store in the link is located in Belgium Europe...whoops:Q

I've seen better prices for 1200s. I own a pair and I got them for $399 each a few years back. Who in their right mind pays retail for these turntables? If you're in the Los Angeles area, check out recycler.com

During the Seattle earthquake, there was a realaudio/video clip on Groovetech.com that showed these turntables still rockin' while the studio was shaking. It was pretty surreal... The party must continue! :)

Yes, I paid $399 for mine about 4 years ago but the key point is that they were selling for $399 a few years ago, not recently. ;)

$433 is not such a great deal. MSRP is always $599, but no retailer in their right mind would ever sell it for that much. The standard price for it is from $399-$499, retail. One tip: get it used. I got my pair from an old lady on the newspaper for $500. You heard me, $500 for a pair.

And for spinn, please clarify why you were speaking to a "Panasonic" representative about a "Technics" turntable?

One last thing I might add. Of all of the 1200s I've seen, the only difference with the 1210 is that it has a black plate. It does come with a 110 or 115 voltage though.

yup Technics is to Panasonic as Lexus is to Toyota....

BTW: SUN, i watched that Groovetech video and my opinion is that the video is doctored! Looks like someone shaking the camera, swinging the lights and ...whats that??... a CHAIR hanging from the ceiling???!!! The items in front of the camera (cup and other thing), the computer monitor, etc ALL DID NOT MOVE!

Of course I may be wrong, but my cyncical mind thinks it looks like they tried "faking" an earthquake video to sell it to news media!

Just pricematch with Guitar Center.
I did that a little bit over a year ago and got both 1200MK3's for $400 each!

Definately worth a try
Just print out the "Ad" from the internet and go to GC.

Standard price is $399-$499? Where can you get a new SL-1200 right now for $399? You used to be able to get them for $399 but that's what I paid several years ago. The typical price is $499 or higher almost everywhere. I did see it for $485 at one place.

I think the retail price on it got raised from $599 too. I just read a review which says:

"SL-1200 MK2 and M3D, both of which list for $750."

A lot of places say the retail price is $699 or higher. Some places list the retail price at $749 and even $799 so it may have been raised from $750 to $799 recently. The place that is selling for $433 says the list price is $749 so I highly doubt that the list is still $599.

Mayhem- $500 for a pair is good...mine cost $400 for a pair of used Euro 1200s back in 89. :p They still take a lickin'...

You can usually find these used for $600/pr nowadays.

Actually the 1210's do NOT spin backwards, but there is a mod that you can install that would make it do so. They are just Black! I bought mine used for $400/ pair for this local chopshop guy. He repairs the tables. He gets the old used returns from panasonic and fixes them up. He does great work when he isnt ripping you off. Ive had mine for 5 years, no problems except the ones that ive caused. I've even custom painted the metallic blue to match my ortaphon dj needles. They look awesome!

this thing is the hummer of turntables, nothing comes close not even for $1500.00. I owned 2 of these puppies about 8 years ago at the time I paid 299 through a pricematch deal. The lowest price i have seen reciently was 399. though. But this is the ultimate TT, If you are looking for a TT get the 1200! Also the 1210 is the exact same but it is black, no reverse comes on either of these, though it can be added, and if you are a real DJ you will want to add it!

Also remeber that you wil need to buy a cartridge & needle too as that comes without. you can get a decient stanton for 50-60 but if you want the best be prepared to shell out anothe couple hundred!

Shipping to the USA is $86.00ea! ouch!
