How does the 7970 fare against the PNY GTX 670 2gb that was on here once for $250 after MIR and V-Me? I take it small percentage faster across the board?

Overclock it, and it should be faster than a 680. It's very easy to get them above the stock GHz edition clocks (understanding that this card is not a GHz edition card).
