This deal is "warm"? NV's closest competitor, GTX770 2-4GB is $400-450 USD.

You could save $150 on the 770 4GB, then sell the 7970 for $150 by end of 2014, and get a 20nm $300 card for $0. One would have to be mad to buy a 770 at its current US price.

Or you could just buy a GTX 760 for $40 dollars cheaper then the 7950. That is NV's closest competitor to the 7950. I don't understand why the 7950 is higher on the first chart. The 760 has the same minimum FPS but the average FPS number is higher on the 760, It shoud be listed first.

The card in this thread, despite being a vanilla 7970 has a factory 1ghz setting with a flick of the BIOS switch. It's not called a GE because it was released with a GHz setting before there was an official GE. In the same charts, the 7970 GHz edition is 24% faster than the 760 at 1920, and 32% at 2560. Comparing stock speeds, the two cards are not in the same league and I don't know what the headroom is on a 760, but this particular 7970 will often top 1200Mhz which should give it an even more significant advantage when comparing OC'd performance.

???

Not even talking about the same thing. In this deal a 1Ghz 7970 for $299. You are suggesting saving $40-50 and get a 760 instead over the 7950 but no one is discussing 7950. They are both a good deal but for $50 extra I think 25% more performance out of the box + 3GB of VRAM is worth it over the 760.

Also, not sure where you can even get 760 for $40 less than 7950 since V2 925mhz 7950 is $250.

yeah if you want to game for 300 bucks it is a good deal.

I can set volts to 1.050 and run core at 1025. drop ram to 1.550 volts and leave stock mhz.

which allows for a cooler card/box. I do not understand why the one poster wrote is was locked.

how much cooler is it running at? HWmonitor 1.23 is showing 60c in guildwars 2 at 5670x1080 on medium settings but the fan is pretty loud.

Just what I read in owner reviews. Could be incorrect.

it drops 30 watts if you lower voltage form 1.112 to 1.050 but with your 3x screens not sure if it would work. I just push 1900 by 1200

yeah sometimes reviews are wrong. I can unlock with msi 2.3.1

I had as many as 7 of these mostly for bitcoin but I did some gaming with them
