Linky

The same card is more than $20 more at the Egg (reference.)

Possibly hot for those who just got shiny new CF-using, large file making DSLRs for Xmas =)

Edit: $34.99 at Costco . $19.99 after $15 coupon that came in the mail!

Woah, nice catch. I bought my last one at Costco for $49 and that was 'on sale' at the time. Guess they brought their prices down quite a bit in that last month or two.

the Costco link in the OP shows that $35 is AFTER the $15 coupon; can one apply another coupon?

How does this Sandisk compare to the Transcend 2Gb card?

Transcend 2GB at Meritline

Or the 2GB Ritek?

Ritek 2GB at Meritline.

The Ultra II is faster:

Go lookie for yourself - Rob Galbraith CF Write Speed Tests

Thanks for the link--that's a great resource.

Speed seems to depend a great deal on the camera in which the card is tested--probably it's interface (PIO/DMA mode) related. On several cameras, the Ridata Pro 150X tests faster than the Sandisk Ultra II, and the Transcend also beats the Sandisk on some cameras. On others, they're very close.

On the card to computer table, the Ridata and Transcend beat the Sandisk across the board, sometimes by a substantial amount.

Perhaps, I'm reading something wrong, but it appears to me that the Ridata and Transcend cards are faster, sometimes substantially faster, than the Sandisk Ultra II.

Ultra II is only SD's mid-range card, rated at 9 MB/s (or 60x), therefor it's not going to beat a 150x card. SD's Ultra III and IV are substantially faster, but cost more. The higher speed cards also benefit from high-speed readers.

$35 for Ultra II 2GB CF is a very good price, memory stick blue label 2GB usually cost around that much.

FYI

Ultra II is spec-ed at 9-10MB/S read and write, around 68x in other brands' standard
Extreme III (not Ultra III) is spec-ed at 20MB/S read and write, around 136x
Extreme IV is around 40MB/S, bench mark based on the above link with the firewire card reader is around 38MB/S, still faster than any other card reader can read it with, the spec? a whopping 260x. Fast enough to be used as a hard drive with the proper PATA to CF adapter. However, you got to pay $$$ for it and its spec capped out at 8GB, rather than 16GB like Extreme III.
