As Onvia and Buy.com coupons not longer available, as far as I know, only relatively large coupon out there (other than Staple's) is $25 off order of $149 at NECX.com (see the popular TECHnology BARGAINS.COM)

You can get retail PIII 700 for $163.90 shipped or about $10 over the best pricewatch price on OEM chips, which I think is worth paying for.

No tax for Californians, which is a big plus.

PLEASE DO NOT BRING UP YOUR OPINION ON T-BIRD/DURON VS. PIII AND MAKE THINGS COMPLICATED.

EDIT: They got RETAIL T-bird 1.1Ghz for $236.95 shipped to satisfy those pro AMD people

PLEASE DO NOT BRING UP YOUR OPINION SAYING ONE SHOULD WAIT FOR 266Mhz BUS T-BIRD AND MAKE THINGS COMPLICATED.

LOL, you mean I can't say you could pay a little more and get a 1ghz Tbird? :)

Anyway, this is a decent deal for those of you that might have a BX mobo. I would still recommend a tbird if your building a new system though :)

Guys, I knew that it was going to come up, so I added Athlon 1.1G price as well. $236.95 shipped is a good price.

I paid $285 shipped for mine which is running at 1.25Ghz.

SimonSays,

Did someone say it was slot 1? Or is anything wrong with FC-PGA?

You are making me worried.

Hey JAMEY,
what's ROMFALEOIALKF?

and, also, does anyone know anything about NECX's reputation? are they just as good as Onvia (that's not saying much), or are they really crappy? Anyone ordered from them? I'm tempted to get the P3 just as an upgrade to my 400mhz PII..

It could be cC0 assuming from the time frame. It may be or may not be. It dosn't say it's cC0 but it doesn't say it's NOT cCo0 either.

You just have to be optimistic :).

According to NECX's webpage, this CPU has a VCore of 1.65. From the specs on the intel web-page, the cC0 stepping requires a 1.7V core voltage. So, at least from the specs, it appears this is either a cB0 or cA2 chip.

But, I'm still tempted to go with them for it, since I'm dying here without a system. :) I ordered a cpu from upgradeplanet and just heard from one of my roommate's that they take like a week to ship your item.

I doubt that they would change the spec because of the running change of the stepping, especially, when their item numbers stay exactly the same.
