I know this is just a warm deal, but many are going apes over the TDK unit for slightly less money. To me, it would be worth not having to wait for the CC $50 rebate to come when you can get the EIDE drive that every one wishes to have right now for only slightly more money. I thought these used to be priced at about $250. That is why I am posting it.

Look for it here...

Plextor 12x/10x/32x

the $20 off coupon for this "techbargain" can be found if you look hard enough.

Total price should be around $209 shipped! I paid $205 from onvia with the coupon/pointclick deal. I haven't seen this kinda price since.

Plus, unless you can flash the bios to make it think it's a Plextor, you can't use any of the nice Plextor drive utilities on the TDK. The utils are a big part of the Plextor package, and they only work with Plextor brand drives.

You missed a great deal for the scsi version at the end of last month from Onvia w/their $50 off $200 coupon. I got my scsi version for $249 after the coupon, regular price is $299.

Isn't it true that almost all IDE have the capabilities to work with CloneCD but only certain SCSI drives do?

Support for Clone CD has more to do with the drive than the interface. This one does have support, and for all you SCSI junkies out there...I choose to buy IDE after I have had SCSI because of being able to give away to family members after I have used a product through its high end life. EIDI drives make this esaier, plus....with this drive I see no real benefit for SCSI other than number of drives limit on EIDI. This drive really kicks A$$.

I understand that ultimately it has to do with the drive, obviously. But if you read the support page it says that almost all IDE drives support some special type of read/write that clone requires and only a handful of SCSI ones do.

Or you could use a 30 of 150 coupon found at the same site Jamey mentioned to save an extra 10. So it would work out to be about 199 shipped.

Re: $20 techbargain coupon...

What do you mean, if I look hard enough? Is itlocated elsewhere, and not in the usual right side list? Btw, I used the $15 one cuz I couldn't find the $20 one last week.

I was saying two things with that "look hard enough" comment.

First (and original intent)...look in the post for the site to go to..hince the "techbargains" way of putting it. But now for the life of me I can't find it there...maybe I was seeing things. I could have sworn there was a $20 off $100 or $150 purchase there. (please respond if you have seen it somewhere..I would like to know I have some sanity left).

Second (and later thought of)...many people want the link, shopping basket, coupons, and more done for them. It was my understanding that links to coupons were just as bad as coupons being placed on the site. For that reason, I wanted to let others know that for this deal, they are going to have to do a little work to cash in on it, but that the information is there if they look.

Perhaps if the $20 was a mistake on my part. If so, I can understand the confusion, but I hope this post has cleared up the any question regarding my original post.

Just wondering if I could add to this deal... a few months ago I was planning on buying one @ $258.00 on buy.com - $30 coupon, but I didn't. Then the price up'd a bit and I held out. But I just got one for $228.00 - $30 coupon, and free shipping coupon. $198.00 + Tax for us Cali folks. =)
