First post, so don't hurt me too bad. I didn't see this anywhere, so figured I'd let people know...

BB has the Philips Acoustic Edge 5.1 Sound card for $99.99.

There is a $20 IR, so that means $79.99 + tax out the door.

- $10 MIR
- $20 MIR

= $49.99 + tax

The cheapest I found on Pricewatch was $65 shipped. Also, that was for the OEM version.

Great soundcard, it's what I'm using right now. Just be sure to get the latest drivers from Philips, especially if you're running Win2K. Philips is really nice about hiding their drivers away from their customers, so I'll provide a link. Pretty good price too...

Is this deal better than the SoundBlaster live! 5.1??? Cuz the SB is only 36 dollars shipped Fedex at newegg.

i'm sorry, but i don't see the $10 mir you mention.. bb only has the $20 listed on their site.. they actually list 2 rebates, one that's expired, and of course the $20 ir that's already deducted.. so according to my math, it's $99.99 - $20.00 (ir) - $20.00 (mir) = $59.99

Well thats what it says in the ad. $99 - 20 MIR - 10 MIR - 10 instant. This card is more for DVDs. The Santa cruz is more for games. Both are better than the SBLive IMHO and in many reviews. :)

The Santa Cruz doesn't have digital outs and ins like the Philips has. I'm tempted but my Aureal is still going strong!!

At the store, they gave me $10 off because the $10 rebate does not seem to exist. If anyone gets a copy of the $10 rebate form, please let us know.

This card is better than SBLive, if only for the fact that SBLive seems to conflict with everything!

I just got back from the BB in Dublin, CA with my Acoustic Edge. They still have two or three in stock. This is definitly a hot deal. The two rebate forms I got at checkout are both for $20. That makes this deal even better.

$99.99 - $20.00 instant rebate
= $79.99 - $20.00 MIR 09/16/01 to 09/22/01
= $59.99 - $20.00 MIR 09/02/01 to 09/29/01

= $39.99 Total Cost

As of now, BB.com shows price $79.99 at checkout. They also have a link for both $20 and $10 rebates.

Rebates:

$20 MIR (exp 09/29/01)
$10 BB Rebate (exp 09/22/01)

So...that is $79.99-$20-$10 = $49.99 plus tax

I just bought the card last night ($79.99), and I asked the PC guy about the rebates, wether I would receive 2 rebate forms, one for $10 and one for $20. he was not sure, but told me that the store would make good on the final price of $49.99. I too got 2 $20 rebate forms, and they are the same form. I just got off the phone with the Best Buy customer service, and they tell me that there is only one active rebate on this item, $20. and if they ad indicated anything else, then I would have to get the store to make good on it. I installed it last night on my WinXP system (build 2600), and it works great. I was replacing a SB LIVE value (that just decided to quit, only after 9months of use). I figured that for $50, it would be a nice card. the SB LIVE 5.1 was going to cost me $20 more ($69.99)..
so, i guess tonight I will be going back to the store for my $10 refund.

IVe had a Santa Cruz, SBlive and the Acoustic Edge.
Acoustic Edge beats them all hands down! Very rich, crystal clear sound in games, music and dvd's.
