Hello all. Pentax Optio S/S4 digital camera. Most noitable for its incredibly small size.

Optio S4:
------------
$318.49 including shipping here, and there is a $30 mfg rebate here.

Optio S:
----------
$291.99 including shipping here, and there is a $30 mfg rebate here.

Now, one warning. This site's resellar raitings is horrible (3.06), but the reasons are sort of odd. The first is their RMA procedure is horrible. The other odd reason is after you place your order, they will "call for confirmation" and will try some high pressure tactics to get you to buy some accessories for your camera at inflated prices. If you say no, they still process your order at the listed price according to the people on resellers. I think i'm going to go for it on a one time use credit card, I've been wanting one of these forever.

EDIT : Reseller raitings for them are here.

EDIT 2 : If you get in on this deal, support anandtech! If you use the "AT DealFinder" on anandtech.com, it will hit ephotoclub.com in its search. You can't make any referral money via ebates or fatcash, but at least anand can.

You know that their rating is bad and you still buy it anyway ?
You better have all your body part crossed !

It's not worth it, find some other reputable dealer.

Dammit, bought my Optio S4 a month ago and they come out with a mfg. rebate now?? It's a great little camera, perfect for carrying around in your pocket. The only complaint I have so far is the weak flash.

I just checked Walmart.com and they have the Optio S for $276.00 on clearance. Shipping to me is only $1.87. So this is a much sweeter and safer place to shop for the Optio S. Update before I finish this reply: Walmart also has an Optio S "package" with 128mb SD card, mini tripod and case for $298.00. Even sweeter. Walmart

I hate when this happens, only a couple of weeks after I scored my Optio S.
Love the camera though.

Why can't they make these mini cams so that they record more than 30 or 60 secs of video? That's a big feature for me.

Have you seen the quality of the video's? They are not as good as you think. #1 they are tiny. And even at 100% size, they are block and choppy, if you try to zoom to 200% it will be really blocky :(

Check out samples on steve's digital camera page.

Hey,

I got this camera at amazon.com a couple of weeks ago. I love the size and zoom, but I'm quite disappointed at the picture quality (and that tiny navigation button that's hard to control). Pictures come out nowhere as good as the canon digital elph s230 and s400 that I've owned before. Has anyone else noticed this? Pictures seem to be a little fuzzy, especially if you try taking a picture of something w/ words, and you try to zoom in on your computer to read the words. I don't know if it's because the canons are so good and i'm just spoiled or what. Any input would be appreciated.

If I do end up keeping this camera, I'm gonna return my baby to amazon and get in on the walmart deal! That bundle really is smoking hot!!!

Yep Camera quality isn't good; but that's the trade off for the small size.

However, small test can be enhenced by using the MICRO feature. Look for that. And make sure AUTO FOCUS is on :)

Take a look at the Sonys. Their video is only limited by the size of your memory stick. It will also do 640 X 480.

P-10, P-8 are mini and the P-92 and P-72 are mid-size.
