IBM laptops are way too pricey for what you get IMO. Even after the $300 drop. They have a nice chassis and are light, but cost about 5-$600 more than similarly configured systems from other companies.. If I was wealthy yes! Since I have a budget I would have to go with the Compaq deal over this one....

I have a T23... it's a great laptop, perfect size and nice features. It's very well made and everything closes and fits like a fine tuned engine. I used to have a Toshiba but the hinges and things just felt cheap. On that note I should mention that I didn't pay for the T23, it came with the job, it's nice but I would never pay the extra money for an IBM if was my own buck.

its still quite a bit more than a comparable compaq presario 2800 /evo n800c bya about $650. i mean its an IBM, but well brand only means so much dollars wise.

This is why IBM's ebay store used to be such a great deal.

I got my thinkpad T21 (p3-800, 20GB 128MB, DVD) for $1300 last summer. Which at the time was cheaper than an equivalent dell (and significantly cheaper than buying the laptop on IBM's employee purchase plan). Now, for $100 more you get a slightly better lcd and 100mhz speed increase (but almost a year later as well).

Here's hoping for those days again 🙂 I really love thinkpads. 🙂

Much love to IBM thinkpad series. I have an X21 to replace an extremely heavy Sony Vaio FX-120. Man, the size, the weight, the functionality, and the overall stability of the system is great. It runs at nearly room temperature and never has any problems with heat.

Sometimes I get *mad* when the fan even turns on, to cool the 85degree cpu back down to 78. Ok, now I'm exaggerating, but I'm in love with the series.

The T-Series rocks. I wonder if IBM will try to incorporate a 15" screen on those bad boys, like the Compaq 2800's offer.

Thinkpad warranties are awesome too. They don't hassle you and pretty much fix anything. They overnight a box to you and you get your Thinkpad back in like 2-3 days.
