Zip drives (exp. the 100mb ones) aren't too much of a hot item anymore now that CD-RW drives are dropping in price.... Sorry!

Not true Jeff, a zip drive is still an easy and excellent way to bring some files home from work. It's easier, quicker, less CPU intensive, and more intuitive than using a CD writer. Naturally it doesn't hold as much, but in many cases it's sufficient.

CD writers are great - and the lower prices are great - but there's still a niche for zip drives since they're the closest thing we have to a standard to replace the aging 2MB floppy.

Argh, I know it's been 2 weeks since this deal was posted but Buy.com bumped the price back up to $95.95

I'm looking for a cheap USB Zip 100 (old or new style, prefer new) hopefully for around $60 shipped. Does anyone know where I can PM Staples against? Thanks.

Kato - Thanks! If I order some Zip disks I should be able to place an order resembling this:

$99.99 Iomega USB Zip 100 from Staples.com
$42.75 3 Zip 100 disks
-$30 off $100
-4% Dash.com
-$30.05
=====================================================
$78.18
+$19.67 Amazon.com's next day shipping
=====================================================
$97.85

Can anyone do better?

Hey Rossman, I don't know if this deal is still working, but the Zip 250 USB thread was a pretty good deal and you can catch it here.

DoobieOnline - Thanks for the link, I really appreciate it. Unfortunately that's already expired and there was some discussion in other threads and on FatWallet that the rebate didn't qualify on that particular model. It doesn't matter anyhow since that offer is expired. If only I had ordered weeks ago!

Rossman: why don't you try howste in the FS/T forums. He has a lot of zip stuff for sale. Here is a link to his thread.

RossMAN, where does the -$30.05 come from?

Sorry I forgot to label that, the $30.05 credit is from price matching Staples.com against Amazon.com - however if Staples adds on Amazon's next day shipping $19.67 that makes this a luke warm deal instead of hot.

Smbu - Thanks for the suggestion and link, I'll give the FS/FT forum a try.

I have a "classic" USB Iomega Zip 100 drive for sale if anyone's interested. (it's not the new style, but it is clear, and not solid blue).

I bought it a month ago. I opened the box, hooked it up to my laptop, found that it didn't like my laptop's Windows 95, and then boxed it back up.

I have a parallel Zip drive that likes my laptop quite a bit, so I really don't need this. I only bought it because I figured it would be faster than the parallel. As is life...

I'll even throw in 3 zip disks (with cases). If anyone's interested, please send me an offer to rijhsing@excite.com with "Zip 100 USB" in the subject line.

THANKS!!

ps...oh, and just to keep my my mailbox from being flooded over, please keep the offers over $69.95. Highest offer gets it!

Hum, looks like Amazon raised the price for the 31197 Zip to $79.99 overnight :(. Was just $69.94 on 4/3 according to Kato.

rossman,
try your local walmart store. Here in my place, they sell the usb zip 100 for 65.xx (or is it 69?), down from 85.xx. They still got 2 in stock!

Poochy - I can verify that Kato's price of $69.94 is legit, I saw it myself last night on Amazon.com, sucks that their price has raised also.

The new style carries power through the USB cord so there's no power cord, right?

pinoy - Thanks, that's worth checking out, I won't have to deal with Staples and no shipping hassles. I just wish Wal-Mart didn't have huge ass lines with slow poke checkers but you can't have everything.
